Can we stimulate brain networks identified using deep brain stimulation from the outside, in a non-invasive fashion?
At @Brain_Circuits, we believe, we can!
Our first randomized clinical trial demonstrating this concept is just out in @MDJ_Journal: doi.org/10.1002/mds.29940

How close are we to at home brain stimulation? Important positive trial of home tDCS for depression just out in @NatureMedicine.
A device that delivers a small electrical current to the brain has beneficial effects in cases of depression that doesn't respond to drugs or therapy go.nature.com/3BTMQ3e
Very well deserved! Huge congrats! Very happy to be part of the @netstim_org team under your fantastic guidance, @andreashorn_!
Excited to be recognized with the @brainstimj @ElsevierConnect Early Career Award 2025! Big thanks go out to the fantastic individuals in my lab without whom none would be possible!
See you in Kobe – who else is coming?

Can we use a convenient dry-EEG setup to program DBS electrodes? @bahnebahners & @LLGoede say yes – tweetorial below 👇👇
🚨🥁Preprint alert: #DBS Programming is currently a tedious trial and error process that involves testing many settings – each time asking the patient to perform motor tasks to see how things improve. Could we use DBS-#evokedpotentials to guide programming?doi.org/10.1101/2024.10.04.2…

Once defined, we can now use this #pattern to estimate #DBSoutcomes in #unseen patients. Would the model be able to identify the optimal DBS contacts?🥁🥁🥁 Indeed: in all of the five cases tested, the model selected the optimal DBS contact correctly!🥳

Using this #dryEEG setup, we recorded DBS-#evokedpotentials in 58 hemispheres in people with #Parkinson’s disease and computed a model which represents the optimal DBS-evoked #responsepattern associated with maximal DBS improvements
Excited to share our preprint on a new approach using DBS-evoked potentials to streamline DBS programming!
Big thanks to @bahnebahners, @andreashorn_, and all the coauthors!

Can we non-invasively target a network identified by DBS to be potentially effective for Parkinson's? You bet we can and Goede, Horn and colleagues show us the path @MDJ_Journal in a new prospective, randomized, double-blinded, crossover trial in 21 folks.
