Haitian’s won their independence with less than 10% of the soldiers the french had, using Vodou and that’s where the negative stigma for Vodou comes from. Also, the word ‘Zombie’ comes from the Haitian word ‘Zonbi’ which also has Vodou origins.

Respect on his name is rare, when he deserves so much more of it.

I agree but it does not work like this. People need to pay bills is what they say.

Bartering is how our films will get made. Rather than pitching to strangers to fund your ideas, we need to be pitching to each other. I’ll shoot your film if you edit mine. I’ll produce your short if you direct mine. We are the new powers that be.

This is pain. Also proof that mentorship for young men is important. If you’re going through something find someone to confide in, speak your truth. Don’t hold it in. I’ve heard @KDTrey5 say on multiple occasions how fire Mike Beasley is at hooping.

Ryan Coogler, Emma Thomas, Brad Bird, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jason Reitman and Celine Song are forming the Filmmaker Leadership Council. The council will serve to provide “meaningful support” for theatrical exhibition. (Source: hollywoodreporter.com/movies…)

Ryan Coogler isn’t worried about winning an Oscar — the opportunity to make movies is his ‘award’ 🎞️ “With all respect to the Academy … my award is the opportunity to have this job. The opportunity to write a script, get a crew together … contribute to people’s health care … and their families … The fact that I have this job and continue to have it is the greatest gift” (via @Variety)

This is the way, however, if you arent Coog yet, some actors turn their nose up at you , budget or no budget. Oddly enough, actors that are known have treated me, a writer director who is not known yet, with more openness than actors who you would consider on the same level. Game

"Michael B. Jordan & Ryan Coogler, I wanted that kind of career ... to have a director & me make like 3 or 4 movies together." Wood Harris would've love to form a dynamic actor-director duo during his career 💯

The production on @officialdoechii “Girl, Get up” is incredible hitting all the proper frequencies. She also Skated. Wow. Love a good rap song.
