With the late, great Oliver Reed currently wowing 2026 audiences all over again with his incredible performance in the restored version of Ken Russell’s ‘The Devils’, I wanted to share this amazing clip of him from 1985. The rather low-res clip comes from ‘In at the Deep End’, a BBC series in which presenter Paul Heiney tries his hands at a profession he had zero experience in. For this episode, Heiney was preparing for an acting role opposite Michael Caine in ‘Water’ and went to Oliver Reed for some pointers on how to play a villain. Please enjoy what happens next.

We are past the point of political disagreement. We are witnessing a catastrophic collision between unchecked narcissism and obvious neurological decay. It is the most dangerous intersection in American history: a man with the absolute power of the Presidency and the absolute cognitive failure of a person no longer tethered to reality.

one of countless keith jarrett treasures 🎵
Keith Jarrett’s solo performance of “Over the Rainbow” in Tokyo in 1984 is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding and moving piano solo covers of all time. Rather than simply restating the familiar melody, the legendary pianist infused the piece with new life through his brilliant improvisation, refined harmonic structure, and profound emotional depth.

weekend 8-precept retreat at wat maheyong now a monthly thing glad i found it as @theresa_197O said the approach is quite teaching-heavy abbot's voice pops up on speakers, reminding u to do this & that mindfully etc😁 being extra kwai-like myself, i need the prodding 😇

not for folks expecting spa experience, hand-holding. lots of chanting & bowing, all very devotional + religious rather than "spiritual" (i happen to be into it) ppl doing lots of sitting & slow-motion walking meditation w/zero fuss or self-indulgent vibes. impressive + inspiring

the reason i've taken to it beyond what i like about the structure and culture of the temple's operations, is i found the abbot's instruction sophisticated. as someone who has studied (too much!) and practiced in this vein for 30 years...i wouldn't engage if i found that lacking
