Nairobi isn’t just a city but a whole mood. From being the only capital on Earth with a full-fledged national park in its backyard to becoming Africa’s premier tech, culture and sports destination, the Green City in the Sun keeps calling you to pay a visit.
Anchored by iconic landmarks like the legendary @KICC_kenya - a striking architectural silhouette, the city blends deep heritage with cutting edge progress. Beneath the striking skyline, next-gen infrastructure like the Nairobi Expressway keeps the city moving fast, slicing daily commutes and seamlessly connecting business with nightlife.
The city has set a new standard for sports and entertainment with the state-of-the-art Talanta Sports City Stadium—a massive 60,000-seat arena built for world-class events like AFCON and major global concerts. Yet, amidst all this rapid modernization, nature remains right at its heart: where else can you spot lions with the city backdrop at Nairobi National Park, or escape into the serene canopy of Karura Forest just minutes from the CBD?
Driven by the tech innovation of the Silicon Savannah, an electric matatu culture, world-class coffee, and unmatched energy, Nairobi is modern, wild and endlessly alive.
Welcome to Nairobi, The Pulse of East Africa !

The Embassy of Kenya in Vienna was proud to receive the Smart Gigacity Excellence Award on behalf of the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy at the World Broadband Association (WBBA) Broadband Excellence Awards 2026, held in Vienna on 14 October 2026.
Kenya was shortlisted alongside CTM and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. The award recognizes Konza Technopolis, Africa’s first #AI-operated Giga-City, developed by the Technopolis Development Authority, as a global model for gigabit-enabled urban development.
Amb. Valerie RUGENE, Deputy Head of Mission, accepted the award on behalf of the Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. Eng.John Kipchumba Tanui, CBS, CBS, and on behalf of the Government and people of Kenya.
What made Konza stand out:
✅ A 79-km city-wide fibre backbone connecting businesses, institutions and homes
✅ Smart poles with CCTV and environmental sensors feeding the Intelligent Operations Center for real-time monitoring and faster response
✅ Smart drainage, a wastewater reclamation facility recycling up to 90% of treated water, and an automated underground waste-collection system
✅ The Konza National Data Center, providing secure cloud and hosting services to government and local businesses
✅ Academic partnerships with the Open University of Kenya, the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and Riara University, linking research to enterprise and innovation
Kenya accepts this honour not as the end of Konza’s journey, but as a call to accelerate it and to share a practical, replaceable model with cities across Africa.
The recognition affirms the leadership of H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, and the sustained investment in fibre, data centers and digital public infrastructure under the Digital Superhighway.
This is Kenya’s moment. This is Africa’s opportunity.

We look forward to building on this fruitful engagement to further deepen our long-standing ties with Hungary and unlock the full potential of our relations.
Kenya is looking beyond traditional markets to build stronger economic connections across Europe.
My discussions with H.E. Ms. Anita Orbán, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, focused on how we can deepen Kenya–Hungary relations and translate our diplomatic ties into greater economic value for our people.
We explored expanding trade and investment, strengthening development cooperation and building closer people-to-people ties that can create pathways for Kenyan businesses, entrepreneurs and young people.
Our goal is simple: partnerships that attract investment, connect Kenyan talent and enterprise to new markets, and contribute to jobs and shared prosperity at home.
”
🇰🇪🤝🇭🇷 Another step forward in deepening our friendship and cooperation .
Kenya is widening its global connections and building new bridges for our people.
Together with H.E. @grlicradman , Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, I signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, creating a stronger framework for regular dialogue and cooperation between our two countries.
Beyond diplomacy, this gives us a platform to deepen economic and cultural ties, explore new avenues for trade and investment, and create stronger connections between Kenyan and Croatian institutions, businesses and people.
For Kenya, every new bridge we build internationally should ultimately open more doors at home, particularly for our businesses, entrepreneurs and young people.
We are expanding Kenya’s reach, strengthening our friendships and positioning our people to benefit from a more connected world.

Advancing Kenya’s nuclear energy agenda at the IAEA. 🇰🇪Amb. @Edwinafande , PS @Profshaukat , and PS @IdrisDokota at the 70th IAEA General Conference.
On the margins of the 70th IAEA General Conference in Vienna, a high-level Kenyan delegation comprising Siaya Governor Hon. James Orengo, EGH and members of the National Assembly’s Departmental Energy Committee led by Hon. David Pkosing, called on the Embassy to review progress in line with Kenya’s quest for nuclear energy.
During the meeting with H.E. Amb. Edwin Afande and CEO of the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency, Justus Wabuyabo, Governor Orengo spoke of the urgent need to bridge Kenya’s energy deficit with nuclear power, terming it a critical prerequisite for sustainable development. He reinforced that only a stable long-term power source would secure Kenya’s future as an industrialized country, and described nuclear power as an essential, transformative catalyst with the capacity to power Kenya’s industrial drive, and elevate the nation to first-world status.
The Governor pledged his commitment to establishing the proposed landmark nuclear power plant in Siaya County, while emphasizing that seamless inter-governmental synergy, and vital collaboration between the National Government, responsible regulatory institutions, and the County Government of Siaya would ensure that the project is efficiently executed.
The Members of Parliament, including Hon. Barongo Obadiah and Hon. Gimose Owino, also concur with H.E. President William Ruto’s vision that nuclear power is an inevitable pathway for Kenya's long term development agenda.

A very good meeting in Vienna with H.E. Ambassador Edwin Afande, MBS, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Kenya to Austria. 🇰🇪🇦🇹
I briefed the Ambassador on Tracks to the Future—Global Neighbours’ forthcoming “Think Train” journey connecting Europe, Central Asia and China, bringing together leaders from business, government, science, culture and civil society to listen, exchange ideas and explore what connects us in an increasingly fragmented world. 🚆🌍
We also discussed our plans to expand the Global Neighbours platform to Kenya, building on the deep personal and professional ties that have connected me to the country for many years.
Kenya has a distinctive role to play as a bridge between Africa and the wider world, and I look forward to exploring how our work can contribute to new conversations and partnerships.
Grateful to Ambassador Afande and his team for the warm welcome and the spirit of openness and collaboration.
The future will be built not by choosing sides, but by building bridges. 🌍🤝
