Then after a tea break, everyone sat down and built stuff, while Rasagy and I went table to table answering questions and showing people more examples on how they could build better workflows.

This was our fourth beginner-level workshop this year, and we made this one more interactive. In the first half, everyone reflected on their own design practice and heard from others about where AI could amplify, augment or automate their work.

There's been a lot of "design is dead" talk this year. So at @DesignUpConf last week, @rasagy and I built our workshop around a better question: how does a designer actually navigate this landscape? and what value does a designer still bring to the table?

I don't remember the exact circumstances but 15 years ago, I decided to leave work early and travel to a bookshop to purchase a copy of the Bloomberg businessweek. I wasn't a designer yet, nor did I own an Apple product but the impact of Steve Jobs on technology was undeniable.
