MY(our) TIME NOW! Word to Nicki’s first documentary! 🦄🚀
2024 was a transformative year for us at Selar! We launched products our creators loved, strengthened our connection with our community, and remained steadfast in our mission to empower the creator economy in Africa.
Our growth is about more than just numbers; it reflects our unwavering commitment to growing the creator economy in Africa, one creator at a time.
This success wouldn’t have been possible without the support of over 240,000 creators across Africa who trust us with their businesses.
To the Selar Creators, we say a heartfelt thank you for an incredible 2024! We’re excited to partner with you in making 2025 even more remarkable🚀

This is for the people who remind us why this work matters, and the possibilities that open up when people have the tools to build something of their own.

Lagos Life launched on October 1st. Just 9 days later, over 4.7 million people have played the game.
Today, I’m excited to announce that Vatar, the parent company behind Lagos Life, has closed a $500K angel round led by AB Hassan (@ijbguy), Nathan Nwachuku (@_KingNath), and GB Agboola (@TechProd_Arch).
Lagos is just the beginning. We’re building entire worlds, and there’s so much more to come. 🌍

The LagosLife game’s parent company, Vatar, has raised $500,000 in pre-seed funding…
Damn, you guys can hate o 😭😭😭😭
This Lagos Life game is a bit suspicious to me.
This isn't something you can vibe code and slap together in a week.
Someone releases a Danfo game followed by a complete Nigerian version of "The Sims"?
Do you even know the server capacity you need to host this comfortably?
Well maybe the lady is a brilliant coder, designer, marketer and distributor rolled in one.
Maybe she had a pile of cash lying around to hire a crack team that can create this kind of game.
Maybe this is all organic and one lady is just that good.
Or maybe... There's an unseen hand behind the scenes using the game as a cover to further their own interests.
Like gathering obscene amounts of data on Nigeria's urban youth.
If the DSS were competent, I'd be sure they're looking into this to make sure there's no foul play
And hey, before anyone calls me a hater and starts foaming at the mouth (not that it matters), I do hope all I've said above is not the case and this is a genuine product of Nigerian hardwork that we can all enjoy.
Whaoooo
Moove is shutting down in Nigeria, but it’s leaving drivers with something big.
The company says it will transfer full ownership of vehicles worth over ₦35B to current drivers for free, with no further vehicle payments required from October 1.

I asked @Shalom_HeyEliy how it happened for Lagos Life, what broke, and if she’s selling for $100,000.
How Lagos Life Beat ChatGPT to 1 Million Users (in 3 Days)
Lagos Life went from 0 to 1 million users in just 3 days. I sat down with Shalom, the creator behind the game, to talk about how it was built, the traffic, the outages, the business, and what's next.
I LOVEEEEEEE random things! I’m so in!
When was the last time you did nothing and your mind was quiet too?
For the busy professional who is always on.
The constant buzz.
Being in 50 places at once.
The multiple open tabs in your head.
