The main problem here is that there is the wrong belief that cats should be free and should't be kept indoors.I am a veterinarian, My cat is indoors, she goes for walks with me in a leash, she has many toys, a cat tower and scratchers at home, and she is healthy and happy cat

It’s time Australia recognised #cats and their impact as a major environmental issue—cats destroy over one million native animals a day—but Australians still find it hard to accept their own cute little moggie could be a killer. Ping @Gbutterfly19 theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Wow, can’t believe this owner’s insanity—that they’d first brush off of continuous stream of local wildlife corpses her outdoor #cats are bringing in or that she’d make ice cream out of their bodies. 🤦♀️
Just get them treats, keep the cats inside, & keep shrews out of ice cream

Australia needs more councils to enforce this & get our State governments to change rules around stray or roaming cats in regard to trapping & shooting cats
There are good products available to fence in outside areas or stand-alone structures for cats to be outside but confined

Lmao BARN CATS if not FULLY CONTAINED WITHIN A BARN are still OUTDOOR CATS & are absolutely STILL PROBLEMATIC & IRRESPONSIBLE.
Got a rodent problem in your barn? Secure your food better, clean up your barn better, & hire a rat-terrier team

Folks out here treatin overabundant (feral) domestic animals like vulnerable wildlife and treatin vulnerable wildlife like nuisance pests breaks my heart every time.

Allowing cats to freely roam unsupervised is at best neglect, at worst abuse, regardless of whether they’re “feral” or “indoor/outdoor.”Cats deserve better
