Are you an NGO looking to register with ZIMRA TaRMS? Follow these simple steps to get your organisation compliant and officially recognised:
1️⃣ Access the Portal – Visit the ZIMRA TaRMS e-services portal: zimra.co.zw/etax/tarms
2️⃣ Create an Account – Click “New Registration” and provide your email and password.
3️⃣ Complete the Application Form – Include your organisation’s legal name, addresses, contacts, principal officers, and nature of activities.
4️⃣ Upload Supporting Documents – Ensure all documents are clear and correctly formatted.
5️⃣ Submit Application – Double-check all info before submission.
6️⃣ ZIMRA Review & Approval – Wait for your Business Partner Number (BP) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). Notification will be sent via email.
7️⃣ Add Tax Heads – Once approved, log in to add applicable tax heads:
Income Tax (NGO exemptions may apply)
PAYE (if you employ staff)
VAT (if your supplies exceed the threshold or you register voluntarily)
✅ Registration ensures your NGO remains compliant and fully recognised.

Since 2020, @AccountLab has had a strategic interest in digital governance.
Through this focus, AL in #Zimbabwe has supported several Digital Accountability initiatives like Astria Justice, DoTs Connectors, and others.
The strategic interest has also been perpetuated through the labs participation in key regional and international events like : the Global AI Summit on Africa 2025, the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum in 2024 and 2025 (#DRIF25), and The Privacy Symposium in 2024.
These platforms deepened our collective learning on key regional digital governance priorities:
- Ethical and inclusive AI development
- Representation in digital decision-making
- Human-centred, rights-based digital frameworks
- Safety, transparency, and accountability in tech systems
With Africa’s youth making up over 60% of the population, and a median age of just 19.7, the need to center young voices in digital governance is urgent.
This is not just a Zimbabwean concern; it’s a regional imperative. From Lagos to Lusaka, Cape to Cairo, our shared digital future depends on meaningful youth inclusion in shaping the rules of the game and systems that govern AI and digital life.
To support this vision, @AccountLab East and South Africa (ALESA) is launching the Digital Governance in Focus, a platform for Dialogue, Reflection, and Action.
This is a series of conversations that precedes the launch, later in the year of Digital Governance and Human Rights Incubator for young civil society leaders, techies, digital heads and social entrepreneurs in East and Southern Africa.

Civil society activists are facing incarceration and threats from political leaders as well as authoritarian regimes all around the world. The HODL-4-HRD project by @Justice_Code is part of a wider mission to enhance the financial freedom and security of human right defenders.
Today, @Justice_Code has launched the Human Rights and Cryptocurrency Project under the hashtag HODL-4-HRD. The aim is to train HRDs on how to use crypto for privacy, security, financial freedom and also the civic space broadly especially in light of USG funding cuts.
