We join the rest of the world in commemorating the International Day for Universal Access to Information. Information decides who gets to make informed choices about their bodies, their money, their safety, and their futures. For young women and girls in Zimbabwe, access to information is shaped by the cost of data, devices, language, distance, and who is allowed to speak and be heard. At The Girls Table, our work on digital inclusion is grounded in this reality. A girl who can find accurate information on her rights, on health services, on how to report abuse, or on funding and economic opportunities is better placed to claim what is already hers. Access also has to include the ability to use information safely, which is why online safety sits alongside connectivity in everything we do. Access to information is a right, and it is a precondition for exercising almost every other right. Governments, institutions, and organisations like ours share the duty to make information available, understandable, and reachable for the women and girls who need it most. #HerVoice #AccessToInformation #IDUAI

As Kenya prepares for the 2027 General Election, persons with disabilities and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (#OPDs) are actively shaping the agenda for disability-inclusive governance. Through a consultative forum, participants identified and prioritized key disability inclusion commitments for integration into political party manifestos, ensuring that the rights, aspirations, and lived experiences of persons with disabilities are reflected in political party agendas. The consultation underscored the need for political parties to move beyond broad statements of support and adopt concrete, measurable, and actionable commitments that advance the rights, participation, representation, accessibility, and socio-economic inclusion of persons with disabilities. By embedding these priorities into their manifestos, political parties can demonstrate a genuine commitment to inclusive governance and ensure that no one is left behind in Kenya's democratic and development processes. @UraiaTrust @ORPPKenya @IEBCKenya

#InclusiveBudgets should not ignore the reality of #AI governance and use. The #DigitalAge also requires intentional resource allocations if we are to leave noone behind ♥️
Africa is adopting Artificial Intelligence(#AI) strategies faster than it is implementing them. An analysis finds that most national #AIFrameworks carry no budgetary allocations . 🇰🇪Kenya costed its strategy at KSh 152 billion, yet its 2026/27 budget shows no dedicated funding. Where implementation bodies exist, mandates are split across competing ministries and agencies, breeding fragmentation, power struggles and stalled execution. Frameworks alone do not deliver rights-respecting AI. Political will, funding and stakeholder engagement must. Read full analysis here: tinyurl.com/2fsrbpef 🖋️: @pkimumwe #AIGovernance #DigitalRights

🇿🇼 #Zimbabwe's new National Artificial Intelligence(#AI) Strategy gives #African states a practical template for adopting AI without deepening dependency. Six pillars anchor it: 1⃣Talent & capacity development. 2⃣Infrastructure & computational sovereignty 3⃣AI adoption & service transformation 4⃣Governance, ethics & regulation 5⃣Research, development & innovation 6⃣Strategic international collaboration It aligns with the AU Continental AI Strategy and treats data sovereignty as a precondition ,not an afterthought. The real test now is whether implementation matches ambition. Read full article here:tinyurl.com/334vrmyv
