I bought a beach house in 2012. It was roughly $20K per year to insure. I don’t believe in insurance, and didn’t get coverage. In 2026 the house flooded. Cost to repair: $140K. With annual rate of return of 5%, I save nearly $200K, and didn’t have to deal with an assessor.

The Zestimate for Gavin Newsom's house was $4.7 million before the property was listed for sale, but then it jumped to $7.3 million after the home came to the market a few days ago at $7.5 million. The Zestimate so often chases the list price. Gotta love it.
