might start documenting all the fun examples in or out of product that I stumble into. Here’s one from @yuuiichive

just got back a coffee cup I threw with a loop handle experiment. the glaze didn’t layer right so it’s quite ugly, but the handle is sick.
instead of tossing it, I’m using it as a pen holder on my desk as a reminder of the beauty in the process

designing for group chats lately and the Chat Dock™ is a favorite of mine.
it's a persistent dock for quickly jumping into your active chats or taking key actions on an active surface.

Folks are working on voice models, image gen models, video models…why is no one working on a “funny” model?
Funny short form content is how impactful marketing is done these days. A model that nails “funny” would unlock virality for every product.

I do a little prayer before every command-v in @figma to wish my pasted rectangle good luck in its travels to the furthest end of my canvas

I’ve been thinking about @nikolasklein’s 2021 talk on collaborative creativity — where two people pass an idea back and forth, each shaping it with their own perspective.
AI can now join any of these loops or replace your collaborator. Where is it actually helpful vs. harmful?

How can your product feel like Banana Ball?
Banana Ball has exploded on the baseball scene as a fun, fan-first version of baseball that replaced every boring, sacred rule of baseball with unexpected ones. Tickets for games are now lottery-based and sold out months in advance.
Your product likely is abiding by too many sacred rules and could be more unexpected and fun:
What if a viewer on your live streaming product could be randomly brought on stage with the streamer they’ve been watching daily?
What if your chat app replaced emotes with quick front-facing camera recordings to capture a real emotion to a message in the moment?
What if your ecomm site’s homepage featured real shoppers and what they’ve just ordered - like their own personal style column?
What if your learning platform took a dance break when a student gets multiple questions wrong in a row?
Gamifying onboarding is expected. Making the game-winning catch from the stands is not.

Self expression is the reason I'm a Product Designer today.
I recently picked up pottery for the same reason and the deeper I go, the more I realize that many of the skills you practice as a potter are very similar to those you practice as a designer.
I'll explain:

If you’re a generalist designer in this new AI tool era, the expectations on us won't change, but the bar will—especially in consumer mobile.
I’m already seeing the expectations of me change at my current gig @Clubhouse.
here's what I've noticed 👇
