🚨BREAKING:
This is incredible news for producers across the Prairies.
After strong advocacy from industry, along with Alberta and Saskatchewan working collaboratively to stress the immediate need for emergency use of strychnine, I’m glad to see the PMRA has reversed its decision on our submission.
This is a huge win for our agriculture industry, ensuring our producers have the tools they need to better manage their operations and continue providing high quality products.

Alberta has championed changes to AgriStability so producers will see a fairer and more responsive program beginning this year.
This is a big win and just one of the ways we are working to meet the needs of Alberta farmers and ranchers.
We know there is still work to be done to ensure livestock industry challenges are fully recognized and addressed. We continue to advocate on behalf of producers by negotiating further improvements with the federal government.

It was an honor to represent @AlbertaAg at the @NASDAnews conference in Washington DC. Some great meetings with USDA Deputy Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Ag Affairs, NASD CEO, Montana Director of Ag, USTR Canada Reps and many other state Agriculture Secretaries.

Alberta producers have raised real concerns about proposed federal livestock traceability changes.
We’ve been clear: traceability must work in the real world. That means taking the time to engage industry and avoiding new red tape, barriers, or costs for farmers and ranchers.
I’ve raised Alberta’s concerns directly with the federal minister and will continue advocating for solutions that protect animal health and producer viability.

The Tri-National Agricultural Accord wrapped up with all three countries recognizing the mutual benefits and opportunities CUSMA continues to deliver for our producers and rural communities.
It was great to meet new friends and reconnect with familiar faces — a strong reminder of why open communication and cooperation matter in North American agriculture.
Over the course of our trip, we advanced discussions on trade, animal health, innovation, and rural development — all with a shared goal of strengthening our sectors and supporting the people who feed our countries.
I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone to Calgary next year for the 35th Tri-National Agricultural Accord.

Recently, I met with the consul general of China, and it was clear that they are willing to end tariffs if our liberal government lifts the EV tariff against China.
Alberta’s government will not sit silent while our own Canadian government continues to support an EV tariff that benefits central Canada at the expense of farmers.
Last year, Alberta exported $1.2 billion in canola seed to China. We also exported $408.5 million in canola cake and oil, as well as
$138.5 million in dried peas and $26.1 million in pork.
The feds need to lift the tariffs and support our agricultural sector immediately.
Alberta farmers deserve fair, reliable market access.

I am pleased that the federal government has released the preliminary list of designated regions for the 2025 Livestock Tax Deferral. We have been advocating for this release for months, emphasizing the urgent need for producers to have clarity so they can make informed decisions and manage their herds accordingly.
This provision is a critical tool to help livestock producers manage the financial stress brought on by feed, forage, and water shortages. By allowing producers to defer a portion of income from forced sales of breeding animals to the following tax year, the program provides some much-needed flexibility and relief during times of hardship.
Time to knock some 2nd cut hay down. @AlbertaAg #ranchin
