Alberta is mourning alongside the Canadian Armed Forces and the families, friends and colleagues of those affected by the tragic incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright yesterday.
The loss of life and injuries are heartbreaking. On behalf of the Government of Alberta, I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and wish those who have been injured a full recovery. Our thoughts are also with the military personnel, families and colleagues facing uncertainty and grief during this incredibly difficult time.
We are deeply grateful to the first responders, paramedics, physicians, nurses and hospital teams across Alberta who have mobilized to provide care to those injured. Albertans should all be incredibly proud of their frontline health care workers and our acute care system that has managed this mass casualty event. We’re also thankful to our neighbours in Saskatchewan who did not hesitate to support our response with additional air ambulance capacity, and to other provinces who have reached out offering their support and condolences.
I will be traveling to Edmonton today to meet with provincial ministers and federal officials. The Government of Alberta continues to work closely with the federal government and local authorities. We have convened our Emergency Management Cabinet Coordination Committee and the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre (PECC) has been activated to a level 3.
As a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives and in solidarity with the military community and their families, flags at provincial government buildings across Alberta will be lowered to half-mast.
In the days ahead, our thoughts will remain with everyone affected by this tragedy. Alberta stands with the Canadian Armed Forces, the people of Wainwright and all those grieving during this difficult time.

It’s been a great start to our day in Quebec City.
First, it was an honour to be welcomed by Nathalie Roy @NathalieRoyPres, Présidente de l’Assemblée nationale, and to see the Alberta flag flying atop the National Assembly for our official arrival in Quebec.
We then met with Groupe Ocean @Groupe_Ocean for a tour of its facilities, where Alberta products are shipped to markets around the world, followed by a tour of operations at the Port of Québec with CEO Olga Farman.
Thank you as well to the Montreal Council on Foreign Relations @corim_mcfrand the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec @FCCQ for hosting a keynote address and fireside chat. It was a pleasure to speak with dozens of business leaders in Quebec City about how Alberta and Quebec can work together to support business, create jobs, and grow our economies.
I call it a Qué-Berta economic alliance!

I am honoured to speak directly with Albertans about the road ahead for our province, the choices we face together, and how you will have the final say in shaping Alberta’s future within a strong and united Canada.

The appointment of justices to our Alberta courts should be non-partisan and reflect our province’s legal traditions and values.
I am urging Prime Minister Mark Carney @MarkJCarney to give Alberta a formal and meaningful role in the judicial appointment process that would boost public confidence in the administration of justice, support national unity within Alberta, and ensure judicial decision-making reflects the expectations of Albertans.

This morning I was hosted by National Bank @nationalbank for a business roundtable with industry leaders and investors in Montreal to discuss how we can create new partnerships to advance nation-building projects for energy, critical minerals, and more.
I was also honoured to be the keynote speaker for today’s sold out event with the Chamber of Commerce Metropolitan Montreal @chambremontreal. There’s a clear consensus here in Quebec and across the entire country, it’s time to build together. So let’s knock down the barriers holding our country back and unleash an era of economic prosperity like we’ve never seen before.

Couldn’t agree more Ambassador.
We are incredibly proud of our oil and gas industry here in Alberta, Canada and our continued partnership with the United States to secure North American energy dominance.
Big day yesterday touring Alberta's oilsands. Seeing @ImperialOil and @conocophillips operations up close reinforces why North American energy security matters. This is the kind of partnership that creates jobs and prosperity.

"The province’s prominent oil and gas industry is sustaining its recovery amid a global rebound in demand. Alongside robust construction activity, it should help drive up real GDP growth to 2.7% this year—placing Alberta at the top of our provincial growth rankings.
This represents an upward revision from the 1.7% rate we projected in our June outlook...
Better growing conditions are also setting the province’s agricultural industry up for a rebound, adding more strength to this provincial economy in 2024." - @RBC

Our province has so much to offer — our resources and economic growth, and our innovative ways of working with Indigenous communities towards reconciliation and shared prosperity.
Today, we launched our Alberta-Ottawa office that will give us the base of operations we need to advance Alberta’s priorities on the ground in our nation’s capital.
The office will strengthen our relationships with partners on Parliament Hill, and in other parts of Canada and will help us stay informed on emerging decisions that impact Alberta.

The federal Liberals have lost in court, again. The court found their actions "unreasonable and unconstitutional."
Labelling perfectly safe consumer plastics as "toxic" put thousands of jobs and billions of investment dollars at risk.
