Your sales elders had it a lot harder than you:
- Selling lamps from a trunk
- Lugging 20-pound phones
- Babysitting fax machines overnight
Sales babies have it even harder:
- Can’t sit in a chair
- Can’t even say words
- Hands covered in mystery goo

Earlier this quarter the marketing team had to move offices. Safe to say everyone feels comfortable sharing their feelings around here.

The calculus around whether to "build" or "buy" in GTM has changed a lot over the last 1-2 years.
I subscribe to the idea of: "buy the infrastructure, build the brain."
But, there are a lot of mixed (and nuanced) opinions on this topic.
So I asked the best GTM operators how they think about "build vs. buy" in 2026 (at @clay's conference, Sculpt—which was s-tier btw).
Here's what they said:

Hard not be inspired working with people like @paytonkirol.
She went undercover in her first video at @clay's sales training day, won the pitch competition and got 126k views
Today her @Stripe video just launched, learn how they ship so damn fast.

Content matrix by medium. When I use video vs. audio, vs. graphics/pics vs. text.

This is tip of the iceberg though. There's many more mediums (IRL, gifting, OOH), channels, structures, owned vs. paid vs. UGC... lots more to come!

In Nepal, Avik Ghimire helped build a GTM community to show the next generation another path.
He finished 3rd at Clay Cup with that community in his corner.
Growing up, he never pictured himself running an agency or competing on a global stage. Now he wants younger people in Nepal to see a path beyond becoming a doctor or an engineer, with one of the world’s best GTMEs right there in their community.

FINALLY started posting on YT few months ago. Then saw @hectorserrranoo KILLIN' it on here, so had to hop over.
I talk about GTM 3.0 here -> tbh we're already in 4.0: Agentic.
How much of your spend has shifted from IRL to digital in the last decade? 2027 will mark the watershed shift to agentic GTM -- agents buying from and selling to agents -- with GTM engineers at the helm.

in 6 mos there will be 2 types of GTM systems:
1. Self-learning systems that autonomously improve over time
2. Static systems that require manual human updates
one will scale revenue faster and be tough to compete against
don't fall behind, start here
