We were delighted to meet with Ministers and MLAs at Stormont, to bring the message of self-determination for the Chagossian community to Northern Ireland
It is crucial that people across the UK stand in solidarity with the Chagossian people as we continue to raise awareness🇬🇧🇮🇴

How remarkable that an agricultural worker in the 1930s had access to better tailoring than the US Vice President today.
"King Feisal kissed me on both cheeks and questioned me in French about my school life. Next day he sent me a golden dagger and a golden scimitar. No man has impressed me so much as King Feisal by the perfection of his features and the nobility of his bearing"

‘The principle of the game was simple. I would hide in the library. Whoever was the ‘bear’ would wait a couple of minutes in the sitting room and then had to find and catch me. Mr Baldwin, Sir Austen Chamberlain, Admiral Beatty and Colonel T.E. Lawrence were among the bears.’
I am currently doing a piece of work on Julian Amery, Baron Amery of Lustleigh.
Amery was active in politics for his entire life.

“We are told that the economic achievement of the West has been at the expense of the rest of the world and has impoverished them, so that the developed countries owe a duty to hand over tax-produced aid to governments of the undeveloped countries. It is nonsense…”

But then, they never have and never will respect the law, so what do we really expect?
Economics aside, far too many blank-red ties here.
I wish politicians would stop dressing themselves by the colour of their party.
Terrible trend. Horrid!

I met @RepRichardNeal when I was a Northern Ireland Minister. He is personally engaging but is utterly sectarian in his views on Northern Ireland.
Like many ‘Irish Americans’ his views are romantic and disengaged from reality.
The USA is not a guarantor of the Agreement.
This is a consequential moment on the island of Ireland.
The Orange Order parade represents a return to the divisions of the past. After 28 years of progress thanks to the Good Friday Agreement, we have come too far to turn back now.
Today, I joined my colleagues in the Congressional Friends of Ireland Caucus in writing to the British Secretary of State Bryant, calling on the Government of the United Kingdom to cancel the Orange Order parade on Garvaghy Road.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The letter states that the United States is a guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement, but the agreement was reached between the UK and Irish governments and Northern Ireland political parties with no such US role or designation.

I’m not sure what Rosa Parks has to do with the Garvaghy Road, but it’s interesting to note that she was descended from Protestant Ulstermen.
Her maternal great-grandfather, James Percival, was from County Down, and her paternal 3x-great-grandfather was from Carrickfergus.
Pat Sheehan is a despicable individual and represents the most grotesque and vulgar elements of NI politics.
Pontificate and ramble he may, but we know his past and we see right through his words.
A convicted IRA bomber dictating about leadership is laughable!

Well said @naomi_long from 2021- this applies to all citizens, all law makers and all law breakers.
When our politicians do not uphold the rule of law our society & its institutions will break down. It will impact everyone - green & orange & other political identity.
Replying to @JamieBrysonCPNI
I know people struggle with the notion of the rule of law applying to everyone equally, but it should.
And as Justice Minister, it isn't virtue signaling to uphold the law: it's part of my job.
