Too clever by half. He correctly notes that Ukraine cannot give up its fortress belt because that'd give the Russians a "straight shot into Kyiv." Yet he insists the war is just about 11% of territory. No, the lie is in his explanation: Putin wants the 11% at the negotiating table because he cannot take it on the battlefield; and he wants it because it gives him another opportunity to make a play for Kyiv at a later date. The Russians don't want to end the war, they want the U.S. to create the more amenable conditions for the continuation of the war in future. The tragedy of Rubio is that he's in better command of the facts than anyone else in this administration but he nonetheless ends up acting a mouthpiece for policies he knows are wrong.
As US Secretary of the Treasury @SecScottBessent clearly has absolutely no idea what he is talking about and asks “Where is Germany?” when it comes to the supply of Patriot fire units and missiles to Ukraine, I thought this might be a good time for an educational tweet.
Let's first talk about the supply of fire units and afterwards about the supply of missiles. Germany, Mr. Secretary, has in fact supplied more MIM-104 Patriot fire units to Ukraine than the US has, despite owning and operating only a fraction of what the US owns and operates. About half of Ukraine's MIM-104 Patriot fire units came from Bundeswehr stocks.
A total of five fully equipped MIM-104 Patriot fire units were supplied from Bundeswehr stocks between 2023 and 2025 alongside a few extra launchers and most likely a spare radar unit. Germany began donating Patriot related equipment to Ukraine at the same time the US has and still does it until this day while the US has long stopped donating this to Ukraine.
Let's now talk about missiles. Together with every fire unit, Germany also donated a missile package. Known donations included for example 100 missiles and 64 missiles. That's substantial, but of course, this only guaranteed the immediate operational readiness of said fire units, nothing else. We didn’t have our own production facilities and our stocks weren’t even remotely as well-stocked as those in the US. The US (led by Biden) actually kept those fire units alive.
In February 2025, before the delivery of the last two MIM-104 Patriot fire units took place, before various donations via PURL and JUMPSTART took place and before Germany made several smaller missile deliveries from its own stocks, the German MoD confirmed to have delivered 328 Patriot missiles of various versions. By now the number of Patriot missiles already financed and delivered should exceed 500 easily.
But what about what's happening now? Germany has shown multiple times since President Trump took office that it is leading in the organisation, funding and delivery of new ammunition for Ukraine's MIM-104 Patriot fire units.
The German government has multiple times organized or tried to organize new deliveries for Ukraine. For example, in February 2026, Germany was in talks with multiple nations to find a total of 35 PAC-3 missiles for Ukraine. After weeks-long negotiations, 30+ were actually donated as a result of the German initiative. Germany was also — on the highest levels — in talks with Spain and Greece for the delivery of additional missiles.
But of course, we are doing things beyond. A lot of things. As already mentioned, Germany is actively funding Patriot missiles from the US both via JUMPSTART and via PURL. You shouldn't forget @SecScottBessent, that we are paying you for this. As recently as June 2026, Germany spent a total of $200 million on PAC-3 missiles via JUMPSTART and another $200 million on various missiles via PURL. Total donations already exceed $1 billion.
And now to the final and biggest part: In April 2026, Germany announced an enormous missile package for Ukraine. Over the following years, Germany will spend €3.2 billion to finance 600 PAC-2 GEM-T missiles for Ukraine's MIM-104 Patriot fire units — made in Germany by the way.
So please don't ask what Germany is doing for Ukraine. We do more for Ukraine then anybody else, including the US. All you do now is getting paid billions for the bare minimum.
PS: For full transparency it must be noted that multiple nations like Denmark, Lithuania and Norway above all have supported Germany financially in the delivery or re-procurement of MIM-104 Patriot fire units and missiles.
As major battles unfold in Donbas, @WarUnitObserver examines the restructuring and reinforcement of what are often called the “fortress cities.”
Focusing on developments since summer 2026, the thread examines Ukrainian forces' movements 🇺🇦 across the region.
Read the thread below ⬇️
🇺🇦Ukrainian reinforcements deploy to the “fortress cities”
As the final battles for Donbas seem to be looming on the horizon, the new 🇺🇦command team led by Maj. Gen. Mykhailo Drapatyi might be drastically restructuring the frontline in the region.
Following Syrskyi’s replacement in the summer, a decision was made to split the area of operations in Donetsk oblast between two new force groupings:
🔵 UV Center, under Brig. Gen. Biletskyi, in charge of the sector between Borova (Kharkiv oblast) and Druzhkivka
🔵UV Azov, under Brig. Gen. Prokopenko, in charge of the sector between Druzhkivka and Novopavlivka (Dnipropetrovsk oblast)
The defense of Donbas, and more specifically of its fortress belt, now rests on these two command bodies.
UV Center is entrusted with the larger cities of Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, while UV Azov guards its right flank on the Pokrovsk-Dobropillya axis of advance.
The crucial importance this sector holds was highlighted in August 2025, when Russian forces attempted to break through northeast of Dobropillya.
Their maximalist objective was the city of Barvinkove, a key logistical hub for the defense of the fortress cities.
The Main Supply Routes (MSRs) connecting Dnipro to Kramatorsk, Slovyansk and Izyum all pass through Barvinkove.
For the Ukrainians, the loss of Barvinkove would put the fortress belt at risk of encirclement.
For the Russians, occupying the fortress belt would complete the capture of Donbas.

The St. Petersburg Ozon logistics hub has been targeted by a Ukrainian 🇺🇦 strike. We updated our infographic thanks to Stanimir (@delfoo)
Ozon is Russia’s 🇷🇺 second-largest online marketplace. According to Vertska, in 2025-2026, 60 to 70% of aftermarket gear for Russian soldiers was bought via Russian online marketplaces

Not helping the situation that no one outside the DoD itself seems to understand Starlink and Starshield/MILNET/SDN-B, or what Ukraine has access to.
. @SecRubio says that Ukraine never had access to Starshield and any issues they may have are with Starlink, the commercial product (and the WH has nothing to do with it). This is, according to available reports, NOT true. Bloomberg reported back in 2024 that Ukraine was given access to the military version of Starlink (Starshield) via a Pentagon contract . And this is consistent with what Musk recently said as well (not to mention Ukrainians). Rubio also says "I'm not sure Zelensky knows what he's talking about". It might be the other way around.

Any attorneys able to make sense of why the executive order waiving the Graham Act’s sanctions and tariffs also purports to waive §117?
That provision governs the termination of sanctions, requiring specific presidential certifications, notification to Congress, and a congressional review period during which lawmakers can seek to block termination.
But §115 only authorizes the president to waive sanctions, restrictions on persons, and tariffs. It doesn’t appear to authorize waiving congressional oversight requirements related to the termination of the Graham Act’s sanctions/tariffs.
How, then, can the administration waive §117 at all?
The tariffs and sanctions from the Graham Act have been waived. Trump delegated authority for future action to the relevant departments and agencies, but none will occur as long as the waivers remain in place.

Russia once kept Central Asia supplied with fuel. Now it’s struggling to keep its own planes in the air.
In the latest #RUSICommentary, Stanimir Dobrev (@delfoo) looks at how Ukraine’s drone strikes on refineries have created a kerosene shortage, straining Moscow’s finances and its regional ties.

Given that Germany is funding a “significant portion” of the Starlink network in Ukraine, I inquired with both the German MoD and the Federal Foreign Office about the current situation with Starlink/Starshield.
A MoD spokesperson only told me that they did not wish to comment on the Ukrainian claims, and would also decline to comment whether they are in touch with the governments in Kyiv and Washington, or with SpaceX, regarding finding a solution to the situation.

I asked a senior U.S. intelligence official, who said there has been *no* cut-off in intel sharing. Even Ukraine's Foreign Minister has said things are status quo. Kushner and Witkoff are threatening this, but the authority does not rest with them. Could this happen? Of course it could; it happened briefly already, earlier in Trump's second term. But cutting off threat intel would leak very quickly from the American side -- as well as from U.S. partners. We'd still inform our own people of incoming missiles and drones. Others would notice a frenzy of American personnel racing to shelters all of a sudden, without explanation, and they'd cotton on.

Twitter has frozen @evgen1232007 account after his post about the problems with Yandex Pay - which was apparently mass-reported by Russian trolls.
Freezing his account is absurd nonsense - especially for a platform that claims to be about "free speech" and it should be reversed!
