How can this still go on? It’s a national disgrace that our government supports this industry. It should be shut down. 65,000,000 dead since 2015.

You eco murderers should be ashamed of the irreversible damage you’ve already done to the ecosystems of Scotland and to the Atlantic Ocean. But you won’t be, will you.

They extract global resources, pollute, kill wild salmon, noise up neighbours, take nosey people to court, get handed millions in taxpayers cash - and then make huge losses because they can’t keep fish alive.
Why are they here?

All livestock sectors are required by law to keep mortality data readily available for scrutiny.
There is a good reason why the salmon farming industry has to PUBLISH mortality data ⬇️

Gut wrenching guff.
The commitment should be to pull out of the migratory paths of wild salmonids.
Protecting wild fish populations requires long-term commitment, collaboration and investment.
Through the Salmon Scotland Wild Fisheries Fund, salmon farmers are supporting practical conservation projects across Scotland, helping improve river habitats, strengthen local fisheries and support the future of wild salmon and sea trout populations.
From habitat restoration and river improvement projects to community-led conservation initiatives, these partnerships are helping deliver meaningful action on the ground for future generations.
By working together, we can help support healthier rivers, healthier ecosystems and a stronger future for Scotland's wild fisheries.

Only just seen this. But @ChrisGPackham is right.
Virtually all salmon is produced in disgusting ways. The fish suffer and the water is polluted, which pollutes the sea around the pens.
Plus they sometimes escape and disastrously breed with wild salmon.

This “support” they talk about is about 0.01% of their turnover. It’s rugby strips, goalposts, minibuses, flower pots etc.
Can’t say what percentage of their PROFITS it is, because that goes back to Norway, Denmark, Canada, Iceland…etc.
In his latest @fishfarmermag column, our Chief Executive, Tavish Scott, reflects on the vital role salmon farming plays in sustaining Scotland’s coastal, rural and island communities.
Drawing on an independent #AECOM report, he highlights how the sector supports jobs, apprenticeships, local businesses, community projects and cultural events, helping people live and work in the places they call home.
From supporting local schools and transport links to investing in community initiatives and creating opportunities for future generations, the report shows how salmon farming remains a key anchor for many of Scotland’s remote communities.
