I and Eze Chukwuemeka Eri entered the CISA Summit in Georgia. Theme: Global Igbo Unification. We led a naming ceremony for DNA-confirmed Igbo African Americans and a ritual at Igbo Landing honoring ancestors who chose death over slavery.

Exactly 14 years ago today, Chinua Achebe published his book, There Was a Country. Released in October 2012, six months before his death, it remains Achebe's final published book. There Was a Country is a masterpiece.

They Thought Locking Him Up Would Silence Him. They Were Wrong: The Cost Of Mazi Nnamdi Kanuโ€™s Continued Detention. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Is More Than a Voice Of a People. He Has Become a Symbol Of Defiance Against Injustice, A Voice For The Voiceless And A Reminder That No People Should Be Expected To Remain Silent In The Face Of Oppression. He Spoke When Many Were Afraid To Speak. He Challenged What Many Had Accepted As Normal. He Brought The Marginalisation, Killings, Insecurity And Longstanding Grievances Of The South-East Into National And International Conversations. He Gave Expression To Frustrations That Had Been Ignored For Far Too Long. For Daring To Speak Out And Lead a Movement That Challenged The Nigerian Establishment, He Was Branded a Terror!st, Subjected To Extraordinary Rendition From Kenya And Kept Behind Bars For Years. But Imprisonment Has Not Erased Him. It Has Not Killed His Message, Silenced His Influence Or Made The Questions He Raised Disappear. They May Have Locked Him Away, But They Have Not Locked Away The Grievances That Gave Rise To His Movement. Every Day Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Remains Behind Bars, The Cost Of His Continued Detention Grows. Frustration Deepens, Anger Hardens, Grievances Intensify, And The Belief Spreads That The Nigerian State Would Rather Cage a Voice Than Confront The Issues He Raised. The Consequences Extend Beyond One Man. They Affect The People Who Identify With His Struggle And Reinforce Wider Questions About Justice, Fairness And Equal Treatment Under The Law. His Continued Detention Has Not Weakened The Demand For His Release. It Has Sharpened It. It Has Not Made The South-East Forget. If Anything, It Has Intensified The Calls For Justice And Kept The Questions Surrounding His Case In The National And International Spotlight. The Nigerian Government Must Understand That This Is Not a Problem That Can Be Postponed Indefinitely Or Brushed Aside As Though It Carries No Consequences. Keeping Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Behind Bars Does Not Resolve The Grievances Of The South-East, Erase The Questions Surrounding His Case Or Address The Concerns Of Those Who See Him As Their Voice. His Freedom Should Not Be Treated As a Political Bargain Or A Favour To Be Granted. It Is The Minimum Demand Of Justice. It Is a Matter Of Justice That Demands Urgent Attention. Releasing Him Would Be An Important Step Towards Addressing The Wider Grievances And Restoring Confidence In The Principles Of Fairness And Equal Treatment. No Prison Wall Can Bury The Grievances Of a People Who Believe They Have Been Denied Justice. No Amount Of Imprisonment Can Make The Issues He Raised Vanish. His Voice Has Not Been Silenced. His Influence Has Not Been Erased. The Struggle Has Not Disappeared. And The Questions He Raised Remain Unanswered. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Must Be Released. The Cost Of Keeping Him In Prison Can No Longer Be Ignored. They Thought Locking Him Up Would Silence Him. They Were Wrong!!! #FreeMaziNnamdiKanuNow #FreeMNK @UKinNigeria @USinNigeria @EUinNigeria @UN @hrw @GovNigeria @amnesty @UKParliament @officialABAT
