BIAFRA MORNING INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING AND ALAIGBO
South-East Political Alignment, INEC Irregularities and Democratic Consent in Focus
Sunday, 1 November 2026
Four South-East administrations have now publicly backed President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Governors of Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu spoke at an APC rally in Enugu on Saturday, while Anambra was represented by Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
This is politically significant.
But it is important to preserve one distinction:
The political position of a governor is not automatically the political position of every citizen.
An election endorsement is also not a referendum on Biafran self-determination.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu and the Christian Association of Nigeria have rejected the inclusion of senior clerics in an APC campaign structure, saying the names were used without authorisation.
That raises a basic democratic principle:
Institutions should not be represented as endorsing political parties without consent.
INEC also remains under scrutiny after acknowledging irregular entries in the preliminary voters’ register, including records containing photographs suspected of being artificially generated.
The Commission says corrections are continuing before certification on 15 December.
What remains unanswered is the scale of the problem and whether any irregularities were deliberately coordinated.
On human rights, the Minna custodial-deaths investigation continues to demand accountability.
Detailed committee reporting identifies 33 deaths, including 14 children, while Reuters and Associated Press have reported 37.
That discrepancy still needs to be reconciled through authenticated records.
For Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, his appeal remains the central legal process challenging his November 2025 conviction.
No new substantive Court of Appeal judgment or authenticated hearing date is established in today’s material.
His family’s continuing diplomatic engagement with British officials remains important, but diplomatic access must not be confused with a confirmed British intervention or legal outcome.
Nigeria-focused payments company OPay has also withdrawn a planned $304 million US stock-market listing following disclosure of a foreign regulatory inquiry.
The inquiry is not proof of wrongdoing.
And on public health, two suspected Ebola cases in Adamawa have tested negative.
Across AlaIgbo, today’s message is straightforward:
Political endorsement is not collective consent.
Institutional representation requires authorisation.
Elections require trustworthy records.
Detention requires accountability.
And:
AlaIgbo’s future must ultimately be shaped through freely expressed consent, verifiable development and institutions worthy of public trust.

Violence Against Biafra Agitators Under Uzodimma Led to Insecurity in Imo, Says Okorocha
Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has accused his successor, Governor Hope Uzodimma, of bringing insecurity to the state through a violent approach to Biafra agitators.
Speaking in remarks attributed to him, Okorocha claimed that Uzodimma’s handling of the agitators was responsible for the deaths of people in Imo State. “According to Rochas, Hope Uzodimma brought insecurity to Imo State because he approached Biafra agitators with violence. He said Uzodimma’s actions were the reasons people were dying in Imo,” the statement reads.
The former governor also endorsed the Rainbow Coalition associated with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and announced plans to establish a similar platform in Imo State ahead of the 2027 elections. “I commend people like Nyesom Wike when he talks about the Rainbow Coalition. As I leave here now, I’m going back to Imo State, and we are going to start the Rainbow Coalition in Imo State. We will bring the PDP to support Tinubu to win. Some people will step down their position to make sure we achieve our common goal,” Okorocha said.
He further dismissed Uzodimma’s political strength on the ground in the state. “Hope cannot carry Imo State. It’s only in Abuja/Villa that Hope Uzodimma exists,” he added.
Okorocha’s comments come amid a long-running political rivalry with Uzodimma and shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja recognized Okorocha as the authentic All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, nullifying Uzodimma’s claim to the ticket. In related interviews, Okorocha has also questioned Uzodimma’s grassroots popularity and argued that his own presence on the ballot would better guarantee support for President Bola Tinubu in Imo State.

Leaving hospital does not mean that healing has ended.
After major surgery, the visible emergency may be over, but the body continues its quieter work of recovery.
Families must organise care, not merely promise it. Employers must respect limitations. Faith communities must offer compassion without spiritual judgement. Above all, recovering people must retain their dignity, privacy and autonomy.
Discharge is a clinical transition, not a demand to become useful again.
How do we care for people when their suffering is no longer visible?
