Discussing the latest #smartphone forecast and why "US Smartphone manufacturing is a DREAM" -
Let's face it. This is not going to happen - not with 25% tariffs, not with 50% #tariffs. We can all discuss long IF/ THEN statements involving billions of dollars designed for headlines .. but anyone that knows anything about smartphone supply chain knows this is a pipe dream. Tim Cook just needs to buy time....
Meanwhile, if these additional tariffs do go through, it will have a serious negative impact on the US smartphone market - currently forecast to grow at 1.9% in 2025, down from 3.2% in prior forecast in February. Yes, the US market is resilient, but not that much...as new tariffs would impact not just @Apple but all brands shipping to the US: @SamsungMobile , @Google and @Moto raising prices across the board potentially pushing the market into decline.
So let's hope the #US administration doesn't hike those tariffs in hopes to reach this impossible dream.
Thanks @technology and @EdLudlow for having me - always a pleasure.
