My 17 year old off to TRNSMT on the w/e. I ask for a rundown of programme and he talks excitedly about @DeclanMcKenna @gerrycinamon before saying "then I have to sit through some band that are *literally* called Garbage ..."
There's the multigenerational gulf right there! 😆
The final part of my mini series 'Forever Songs' - inspired by songs, memories & my delightful neighbour, Al Beck - airs on @BBCRadio3 at 9.45pm, then heads to @BBCSounds
Expect a surprise guest.
And have a hankie ready.
Huge thanks to Al's family and to producer @breithorn

Thanks so much to @PaulEnglishhack for helping to tell the story of the delightful Al Beck and his back garden, homespun, single household lockdown festival: BECKSTIVAL - featured tonight and all this week at 9.45pm on @BBCRadio3 - 'Forever Songs' -
In today’s @heraldscotland, my front page exclusive telling how folk singer Karine Polwart @IAMKP staged a micro-festival in the garden of a neighbour in the last stages of cancer.

The gift of a bespoke garden gig to a neighbour nearing end of life in the summer of 2020.
A glorious email trail about the beloved songs that tell his story.
A homespun, single household, lockdown FESTIVAL.

Ocht so sorry to hear about the death of Rod Paterson. One of the sweetest ever singers in Scots. As a soloist and also with Jock Tamson's Bairns and The Easy Club, in particular. Love to family and friends.

Dundonians - how would you pronounce 'The Gaumont' - the old cinema that used to be in the town? Like "Cow-mont' or like "Haw-mont' or in some other particular Dundee fashion? Ta!

Horrific scenes from Rafah tonight.
Too awful to re post- charred and decapitated bodies of children.
And all while the world watches.
I truly hope that in my lifetime we see those in power held to account - those who could have stopped this and failed to do so
The appalling heartless leaders who could not even find the words to condemn a massacre that has been live-streamed on our phones for months
So many of us have publicly and privately urged our government, the PM, the @FCDOGovUK to act.
This is on their watch - because they armed , supported and failed to condemn Netanyahu and his extreme right wing
We failed to support the ICJ , abstained at the UNSC , undermined the ICC and continued to arm and support a regime that has brutally slaughtered innocents for months.
UK foreign policy on Palestine is morally bankrupt.
I am sorry we failed you.🇵🇸
