When we started Reach A Hand Uganda in 2011, our mission was simple: empower young people to be the change-makers in their communities. Today, as we’ve grown across 56 districts, challenges have become more complex, shifting global funding threatens SRHR programs, while teenage pregnancy, school dropout, and gender-based violence continue to impact young people. That’s why I’m proud to introduce Reach A Hand Global Inc, our new US-based fundraising arm, a strategic pivot toward sustainability and building stronger global partnerships. Together, we can ensure the vital work we do with young people isn’t dependent on funding tides, but backed by long-term support. To everyone who has walked with me since 2011, thank you. You’ve seen us through every low and every high. Now, I’m inviting you to join us in this new chapter to go higher than ever in amplifying youth voices on a global stage and deepening our impact at home. Donate today and create change to shape the future of more young people across Uganda with us: every.org/reach-a-hand-ugand… #YoungPeopleForYoungPeople #RAHUAt15

As we wrap up an immensely successful Activate in Johannesburg and reflect on the fulfilling experiences and interactions shared, I’d like to extend a heartfelt vote of thanks to my brother, @ThapeloMokoena. Thank you for your hospitality, time, and effort, and for generously sharing your networks and expertise with us throughout our time in South Africa. Your commitment to connecting African creatives reflects the industry we are working to build - one grounded in trust, shared opportunity, and collaboration across borders. We leave Johannesburg with stronger relationships and a clearer sense of what Uganda, South Africa, and Africa at large can build together. Siyabonga, brother. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

A film industry grows through productions, but every production begins with people choosing to work together. Bringing actors, filmmakers and industry leaders together at the iKON Activate Soirée was part of building the trust and professional relationships required for African talent to collaborate across markets. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

The iKON Activate Soirée reminded me why community matters in the creative industry. Productions begin with ideas, but they move through relationships, trust and people willing to build together. Johannesburg gave us room for all three. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica – at Kampala, Uganda

The iKON Activate Soirée brought Ugandan filmmakers into the same room with South African screen talent, including @Pasi_Koetle, @gaosiraditholo, Nunu Khumalo and Nathaniel Ramabulana. Cross-border productions begin when creatives know one another, understand their respective markets and identify opportunities to work together. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica – at Kampala, Uganda

“Africa is our studio, our market and our greatest opportunity.” Our population gives us a large potential audience. Our cultures give us distinct stories. Our young people provide creative talent. Policy, investment and industry leadership must connect these assets into enterprises that produce work and retain value on the continent. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

When we launched the iKON Awards, our ambition was never to create another evening of trophies. Recognition must lead somewhere: into co-productions, financing, skills exchange, distribution and sustainable careers. The iKON Creative Exchanges and iKON Activate are helping us connect those parts into a stronger African film ecosystem. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and other African markets bring different strengths to the film industry. Our policies should make those strengths easier to combine. The AfCFTA presents a framework for deeper continental trade. The film sector needs this ambition translated into simpler cross-border payments, movement of crews and equipment, digital distribution and protection of creative rights. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

“The next phase of growth for African cinema will not be defined simply by how many films we produce.” Production volume alone does not build an industry. We must examine how films recover investment, pay creators, reach several markets and finance future productions. Commercial sustainability must become part of our creative ambition. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

“Africa does not lack stories. We do not lack talent. And we certainly do not lack creativity.” Our challenge lies in the systems surrounding this talent. Filmmakers need finance, equipment, professional contracts, technical training and reliable access to audiences. Talent starts the journey. Industry infrastructure sustains careers. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

Yesterday at the iKON African Film Forum in Johannesburg, I posed a question central to Africa’s creative future: How do we move from separate national film markets into one interconnected African industry that produces globally competitive work, builds sustainable enterprises and creates meaningful employment for our young people? Integration must extend across financing, production, skills, intellectual property and distribution. Fragmented markets limit scale. Connected value chains strengthen our bargaining power and create more work for African creatives. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

Africa does not need isolated training programmes producing talented young people with nowhere to apply their skills. The alignment between the Sauti Digital Fellowship, iKON Young Filmmakers Fellowship, MultiChoice Talent Factory and training spaces such as Media Valley points towards a stronger model: skills linked to technology, production experience, professional networks and paid work. That is how training becomes a career pathway. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

The visit to Media Valley reinforced the value of a connected talent pipeline. Young creatives need foundational digital skills, specialised film training, access to modern production technology and experience on real projects. The Sauti Digital Fellowship, iKON Young Filmmakers Fellowship and MultiChoice Talent Factory each contribute to this journey. Our opportunity is to strengthen the links between these stages. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

Virtual production expands what African filmmakers are able to produce, but access to technology must be matched by access to skills. This is where Media Valley’s training model aligns with the iKON Young Filmmakers Fellowship, the Sauti Digital Fellowship and the MultiChoice Talent Factory. Each combines practical learning, mentorship and exposure to professional production environments. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica

Following yesterday’s iKON African Film Forum, members of our iKON Activate delegation toured the Media Valley Collaboration Hub in Johannesburg and met its founder, Farhad Omar. The visit explored how LED stages, real-time Unreal Engine rendering, motion capture and integrated post-production are changing how films are planned and produced. #iKONActivate #iKONAwards2026 #ReachAHandAfrica
