AZANIA MOSAKA: THE VOICE THAT SHAPED AN ERA.
From growing up in Pimville to making broadcasting history as the first woman to host a commercial radio breakfast show in South Africa, Azania Mosaka built a two-decade career on depth, poise, and composure. But at the peak of her radio dominance, she made the ultimate act of bravery: she put down the microphone and walked away to grow.
What followed was an expansion, from working at the United Nations in Geneva to returning to Wits for her Honours degree, with her sights now firmly set on a PhD.
For our latest cover issue, we took things back home to Soweto: shooting across Pimville, local salons, and neighboring schools. We sat Azania down with fellow icon Penny Lebyane for an unedited, deeply moving masterclass in Black sisterhood, integrity, and reclaiming one's narrative. Read full cover story now!

A film industry grows through productions, but every production begins with people choosing to work together.
Bringing actors, filmmakers and industry leaders together at the iKON Activate Soirée was part of building the trust and professional relationships required for African talent to collaborate across markets.

The iKON Activate Soirée brought Ugandan filmmakers into the same room with South African screen talent, including @Pasi_Koetle, @gaosiraditholo, Nunu Khumalo and Nathaniel Ramabulana.
Cross-border productions begin when creatives know one another, understand their respective markets and identify opportunities to work together.

I'm putting it out in the universe. ✨️
I was also super 💤 when I tweeted this. 😩🤣 I confused Luyanda with Lusanda. 🤷🏾♀️
Thanks for bringing us creatives together, my brother✊🏾. Great initiative 🙏🏽
It was a pleasure to welcome @MamphoBrescia, @LeratoMvelase, @kgchristopher, Luyanda Zwane and Kagiso Latane to the iKON Activate Soirée in Johannesburg.
Their presence reflected what this exchange seeks to build: stronger relationships among African creatives whose work already reaches audiences across borders.

2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Navi Pillay’s commitment to universal legal principles and her firm moral compass are constants in a long career. Born into a family of Indian Tamil origin under apartheid in Durban, South Africa, Pillay became a lawyer and legal pioneer, confronting deep structural discrimination, segregation and exclusion. A common thread runs from her early work defending Nelson Mandela and others who stood up against apartheid to her service as a judge in some of the key international court cases of our time.
This year’s laureate has significantly enlarged the scope and impact of international law. She has served as a judge on the High Court in South Africa, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Court. She was the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and, until recently, she chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Today Navi Pillay is a judge on the International Court of Justice in the case where Myanmar stands accused of genocide.
In historic international court cases, she has shown that legal measures can help prevent acts of war and violence. Navi Pillay has also contributed to strengthen the institutions of international law. Her independence, expertise and steadfastness have made her one of the most respected international jurists of our time.
