I rarely post, BUT I need help from teacher friends! What is your favorite back to school team building activities?? This is for my high school student council members. 🤞🏻🥰

There should be a teacher on every school board…
and at every table where education decisions are made.
Because right now, we’re making policies for classrooms
without the people who actually live in them.
You wouldn’t design a hospital system without doctors.
You wouldn’t build a plane without pilots.
But in education…
we leave teachers out of the room
Well, my wishlist was cleared today… and then my daughter got sick and I had to hand clean vomit out of the carpet, sooo… win some, lose some I guess. 🫠
Today any donation to my Donors Choose StuCo Project is being doubled using the code BASICS! That means $89 clears this project and my Student Council kids can start working on it at our meeting Friday! @DonorsChoose #donorschoose #ClearTheLists2025 #studentcouncil

I go back to school in 1 wk & it’s got me reflecting on what works and what doesn’t… Teachers, share your wishlist and how you stay organized in the classroom. I’ll go first… Post it note lists. If it’s not on a list, my brain is forgetting it. amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/27…

Questions: What was learned?
Answer: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
The career is simply no longer sustainable

The number of instructional days that are permanently lost due to field trips, college fairs, sporting events, etc is way too high. Extracurricular activities that encroach on the academic calendar and bell schedule are no longer extracurricular. It turns school into summer camp.

One of the worst things we did to education was make digital gradebooks available to students 24/7 😅 Istg a student emails me every time their grade drops even half a percent and I’m like “Can you chill out?!”

PSA: 📣
We should spend more time and energy retaining teachers than on recruiting teachers.

The biggest lie in education is that it’s possible for teachers to differentiate instruction to a classroom full of kids.
