Every U.S. state decides what its schools teach. But Montana made a promise unlike any other by writing it into its state constitution.
Montana is the only U.S. state that legally requires schools to teach Native American history and culture. The state recognizes that Native American communities have a unique and important cultural heritage. It also promises to respect and protect that heritage through education.
This program is called Indian Education for All. It means every student in Montana, whether Native American or not, should learn about Native American history, traditions, cultures, and values in a respectful and accurate way. Schools are also encouraged to work closely with local tribal communities so students receive lessons based on real knowledge and experiences.
The goal is to help students better understand Indigenous communities, reduce stereotypes, and build respect for the people who have lived in the region for generations.
However, turning this promise into reality has not always been easy. For many years, the program did not receive enough support. Schools lacked clear teaching standards, and many teachers did not have the resources or training needed to teach the subject properly. As a result, many Native American students rarely saw their own history and culture represented in their classrooms.
Over the years, state leaders, educators, and tribal communities have continued working together to improve the program. More teaching materials have been created, and schools are making greater efforts to follow the law.
Montana's promise remains one of a kind in the United States. While challenges still exist, the state continues working toward its goal of ensuring that every student learns to understand, respect, and value Native American history and culture.

Dear Parents—your child doesn’t need to be the smartest in the class, the best on the field, or the most talented in the room.
But they do need to be teachable.
We’ve raised a generation that can Google every answer, but too many are forgetting how to listen, respect, and learn.
Being teachable isn’t about grades or intelligence—it’s about humility. It’s about realizing you don’t know everything and being willing to grow when someone tries to help you.
As parents, we don’t need to raise perfect kids.
We need to raise kids who can take feedback without falling apart.
Who can apologize.
Who can show respect even when they disagree.
Who can be corrected without becoming combative.
Because teachability will take them further than talent ever will.

•Parents NOT teaching discipline & respect
•Thinking schools should be the solution to EVERY challenge students face

Some people may say that you need first-day vibes every day to be effective, but that's burnout. Real learning and growth come from the daily routines and the consistency that help students feel seen, safe, and supported.

To Every Teacher About to Begin Again…
There’s something sacred about this time of year.
The world doesn’t pause for it—but we do. We tidy up rooms, rework bulletin boards, restock our desk drawers with things no one else even notices… all for the sake of what’s coming. And what’s coming isn’t just students—it’s opportunity. It’s impact. It’s legacy.
And whether you feel ready or not, you’re about to become part of someone’s story again.
It might not be obvious at first. The kid who won’t look up. The one who sighs every time you speak. The one who walks in carrying a world you’ll never fully understand. But here’s the truth: your consistency will matter more than your content. Your tone will matter more than your title. And your presence will matter more than your perfection ever could.
Every year, I remind teachers of this: You are not the system. You are the exception to it.
You’re the one who turns test-takers into risk-takers. Who sees the child before the checklist. Who shows up—even when it feels like no one notices you do.
And if this year feels heavy, don’t forget—some kids are walking through your doors needing one adult to believe in them. Just one. Not because you have all the answers, but because you looked them in the eye and said, “I see something in you.” And meant it.
That’s the kind of teaching that outlasts standards. The kind that can’t be measured… but will never be forgotten.
So as you step into a new year, remember this:
You don’t need to be perfect. Just present.
You don’t need a magic lesson. Just a moment that makes a kid feel seen.
You don’t need to save the world. Just reach the one in front of you.
Because that’s how the world changes anyway.
Thank you—for everything you give to children who aren’t even your own. The world doesn’t thank you nearly enough. But I see you. And I’m grateful.
Let’s go make it count.

Kelly Clarkson has celebrated teachers on her show, but expecting educators to work unpaid hours, on top of the hundreds of unpaid hours we already work, only reinforces toxic teacher culture.

Teachers are protesting because we know that abolishing the Department of Education would destroy the last safeguard of equal public education, leaving countless students at the mercy of underfunded, under-resourced, and deeply unequal state systems.

Thoughts?🧐 I personally don’t view schools as a business. Should parents have a say in their child’s edu? Yes! Should parents criticize, no. Should parents critique? Yes. The difference? The 1st offers no solutions, the later doesn’t. If you have a problem, come with a solution.
If you are a teacher & not following @DrBradJohnson you should….like today. This is one of the biggest mic drops!
