Yesterday was a big day. 15 years ago, a group of parents (inc @bocadalupa and me) decided to take action about children’s lack of freedom and access to the space on their doorstep. We devised the resident-led play street model and set up @playingout to grow this movement...

Architects have given the thumbs up for getting council taxpayers cash for architecting a regional park that already exists.
Residents have given the thumbs up for a new regional park in the borough. To help the council develop more detailed plans for the regional park, internationally recognised architects, Prior + Partners have just been appointed. @deirdrecostigan @PKnewstub orlo.uk/36WZz

Excellent description of our astounding Brent River regional park. If it ain't broke then don't fix it Deirdre.
A winter walk in @BrentRiverPark beneath the arches of Brunel's Wharncliffe viaduct, then through a wood beside the West Middlesex Golf Course which was busy with players🧵

An otherwise quiet Saturday morning but it's getting a bit #smidsy in the wild west that is the former LTN 21.

Since quitting the gym, I go to Warren Farm instead of paying to walk on a treadmill. Far more enjoyable, interesting and free! I know several elderly Hanwellians who boast about doing their 10,000 steps around the meadow/canal too.

Nothing to see here. It's just everyday Coldershaw and Midhurst Traffic Action.
Hey @deirdrecostigan @_petermason @P_DriscollW5W13 just for the record, it’s getting increasingly dangerous around here in former LTN21 by the Leighton Rd width restriction #DeathTrap #DangerousStreets #AirPollution #Idling #RoadRage

A few weeks ago we got an alert that the Brent had been polluted, a dull, yellowish sheen covering it in Pitshanger Park. Follow this thread and offer your suggestion about what the polluter should be required to do.

Increasing the number bike hangers from almost none to very few is an amazing achievement.

The devastating tale of an urban river. Huge round of applause to all at @BrentPollution for their perseverance and dedication, an example to us all. 👏
This was Boundary Stream, Long Wood, tributary of the Brent, back in May ‘22. Teeming with gamarus, I think it’s fair to say this has been the cleanest part of the Lower Brent for many years. Thread…

The conveniently overlooked and misunderstood # LTNs of the 1960s and 70's    These never get called out as 'gated communities', car-free enclaves, private sanctuaries for the privileged few, high car ownership enclaves, social apartheid' etc.

"50 years ago campaigners fought hard to create the Brent River Park and they are still fighting to protect the Regional Park today. It is not possible simply to rebadge it, to build on it and then hope that climate change and more frequent and severe flooding will go away"
