Thrilled that #paper2agent is published in @nature today! Scientific knowledge is traditionally stored in passive papers. Paper2Agent transforms papers into virtual authors that answer questions, apply its methods and collaborate w/ other paper agents to make new discoveries 🧵

New paper, health value of each minute of different physical activity intensities against 6 health outcomes. nature.com/articles/s41467-0… Pretty much the whole industry (incl. @Google Fit @Apple Fitness+) assume that 1 minute of vigorous activity = 2 minutes of moderate activity, in terms of heart health value. Our UK Biobank analyses show that they may be far off, e.g. 1 minute of vigorous = 9.4 minutes of moderate = 94 minutes of light intensity activities, in terms fo type 2 diabetes risk. 1 min of vigorous = 7.8 mins of moderate = 73 minutes of light, in terms of CVD risk. #wearables #interventions #guidelines #physicalactivityprescription #exercise #trackers #epidemiology @Matthew_Ahmadi

Good news! Your lifestyle is more important than your genetics. Excellent read!
Based on a systematic analysis of environmental exposures associated with aging and mortality in the UK Biobank, a study compares the relative contributions of such exposures and genetic risk for mortality and a range of age-related diseases nature.com/articles/s41591-0…

Where would you be if you started 1 year ago? Here’s the impact of 12 months of exercise or inactivity on the physical function of older adults aged 70+. Like many things, the best time to start exercise was yesterday. But the next best time is now.

Great Opinion piece from Jinha & Herzog (2024) on muscle power: sciencedirect.com/science/ar… Power is neither force nor energy, but it is physically related to them. For further details: Ruggiero & Gruber, 2024: physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.c… (see section "Explosive strength and power"). Minetti, 2002: link.springer.com/article/10…

Great format and exceptional reviews from the very young scientists. Thanks @Luca_L_Ruggiero for taking us on that journey! This paper will make it to my biomechanics lecture for sure 😉
Some articles are extremely rewarding. This is one of those. kids.frontiersin.org/article… We explain to teenagers why humans would jump less if they used the same trick of grasshoppers. @FLucMed @HPRC10 @cclemente4 Next time you say to youngsters to jump like crickets, they will know you are wrong 😆

Is it me or the train moving? 🚂🫨 📢New preprint📢 on multi sensory integration of conflicting sensory inputs in human balance: doi.org/10.1101/2024.08.30.6… Moving the visual scene creates a conflict and visual orientation cues become erroneous. How does the CNS resolve this?
