⚓ A proud moment for Great Yarmouth!
We were honoured to award the Freedom of the Borough to the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Dauntless – recognising both her incredible service and our town’s deep-rooted naval heritage.
Crew members joined us for a fantastic day in the borough, including an open-top bus tour and a special ceremony at the Town Hall, where this prestigious honour was officially presented.
As one of the Royal Navy’s most advanced warships, HMS Dauntless has travelled the globe – from Australia to Japan – helping to protect and promote stability in some of the world’s most challenging waters. 🌍
But beyond her cutting-edge technology and global missions, it’s the people behind the ship that truly make her special. We’re proud that Great Yarmouth can now stand alongside the families, friends and supporters who champion her crew every day.
This award also celebrates our town’s historic connection to the Royal Navy – from Horatio Nelson to today’s modern fleet – continuing a legacy of service, bravery and community.
Thank you to the crew of HMS Dauntless for visiting us – it was a privilege to welcome you and mark this special occasion together. 💙

HMS Dragon has begun her journey to the eastern Mediterranean to join the UK's defensive operations in the region.
Hundreds of well-wishers, including loved ones of the ship's crew, lined the seawall as the ship sailed from Portsmouth.

A Crowsnest Merlin of 820 Naval Air Squadron has completed a journey of more than 3,500km/2,200 miles from @RNASCuldrose to @RAFAkrotiri to provide additional support to existing aerial defences protecting UK interests.
