Losing our ecological niche (translation: how billions of people die) Okay, so let's get this straight - in the next generation or two, we won't be able to live on half of the landmass because it's too hot. We can't live in cities on or near coasts because they will be getting swallowed up under 10 metres of sea level rise. We can't live on flood plains or near rivers because what just happened in Spain will be happening every few years. Oh, and now we will not able to live in the mountains, and then the hills, because the plankton are all dying and there's less oxygen. Don't you get the feeling that the ecological niche is getting a bit crowded. But don't worry, drill baby drill and we'll be great again. "STATE OF THE CRYOSPHERE 2024 This absolutely critical report just out Passing 1.5C will result in melting sufficient to raise sea level by 10m+ AND THERE WILL BE NO GOING BACK 75% of major cities lie below 10m" Prof. Bill McGuire, UCL Pathways to resistance here: rogerhallam.com/the-return-o…

I don’t think journalists understand yet that the media can never recover from its failure to clearly outline what is happening to us all and the fact that the oil industry is doing everything it can to stop us from taking action.

The headline says ā€œhalf of world food production is at riskā€ Let me interpret this for you: half of the world’s food production will disappear. In many places, and certain crops, up to 90% HAS disappeared. Welcome to your #foodapocalypse Food is already unaffordable. Soon it will be unattainable

Now we're talking. Big Oil companies AND THEIR CEOS could be CRIMINALLY prosecuted for reckless endangerment. Climate change isn't a tragedy — it's a crime.
Today, @Public_Citizen and @fjp_org released a report showing Big Oil companies + CEOs could be *criminally* prosecuted for reckless endangerment. By increasing the risk of climate disasters, they're endangering lives. That's a crime. We should prosecute.🧵theguardian.com/us-news/2024…

In 1985, Carl Sagan told Congress that continuing to burn fossil fuels will increase global temperature, cause climate change, melt glaciers and ice sheets, and cause sea level rise. Imagine if we had listened to him them. No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #climate

It’s šŸ‘ the šŸ‘ fossil šŸ‘ fuel šŸ‘ pollution šŸ‘ The Gulf of Mexico is the hottest it’s ever been on this date. Hotter water makes storms stronger. We’re in a full blown, five alarm climate emergency from burning oil, gas, and coal.
Hurricane Milton is undergoing one of the fastest rapid intensifications ever observed in the Atlantic. It is now a 155 mph Category 4 storm, just 2 mph shy of Category 5 status. Not a single weather model predicted the storm would strengthen this quickly.

Climate change isn’t a tragedy, it’s a crime. In the 1970s, Exxon scientists predicted global warming with ā€œshocking accuracy,ā€ but the company went on to spend millions lobbying against climate action. Now we’re all paying the price.
