🦇 You know what’s spooky? All of the single-use plastic that comes with Halloween.
In the U.S. alone, 600 million pounds of candy are purchased every year to celebrate the holiday. 👻 Over 80% of new costumes are made from synthetic materials, worn once, and then tossed, where they live on in landfills and the environment FOREVER. 🧟
While we need systemic changes to reduce plastic at the source, there are still ways to make Halloween a little less wasteful.

A little time in #nature can go a long way. 🍁 With changing leaves, cooler mornings and #autumn colours all around us, nature has a wonderful way of reminding us to slow down, take notice and appreciate the little things. 🍂 #WorldMentalHealthDay

Forests do more than produce oxygen.
They store carbon in trunks, roots, and soil, and they help regulate local rainfall.
When large areas are cleared, that stored carbon can return to the atmosphere and regional water cycles can weaken.
One practical step communities use is protecting existing mature forests while restoring degraded land, because older trees often hold more carbon than newly planted ones.
What is one local tree species or forest area near you that people rely on?

If you could only only plant ONE tree in your yard. What are you choosing?

During fieldwork surveys, our team spotted these #woodants using a fallen tree trunk to cross the river. 🐜🌲These tiny #ecosystem engineers help to spread seeds, enrich the soil and control insect populations, playing an important role in the health of the #CaledonianForest.

A quick reminder.
If the heat bothers you, plant a tree
If the water bothers you, plant a tree
If you like fruit, plant a tree
If you like birds, plant a tree
If you love your family, plant trees
And if you like life, plant many trees🌳🌲🌳🌲
