Heads up folks - we've a pretty miserable 24-36hrs ahead with some persistent #rain over the central spine of the country.
As always, knowing your #flood risk in advance & the actions you can take pay dividends if ever the worst does happen.

Looking forward to talking about this important issue on @BBCBreakfast this morning. A complex & tricky problem to monitor, pin down and crack - but we must! Loads of different solutions, but need ambition and organisation. @CIWEM

Witney sewage works - known to dump sewage illegally in 2014 but the Environment Agency ignored it and allowed Ofwat and Thames Water to hold off upgrading. Here we are like many other areas approaching 2022 with a massive housing boom connecting to the failing system @BBCNews

We've completed our Albany Park #riverrestoration! By naturalising 400m of #turkeybrook (which used to flow in a concrete channel) the risk of flooding for 400 properties has been reduced. 4000 wetland plants have also been planted - offering a diverse new habitat. RESULT! ✅🎉
