For Dawit, words were not enough to bring him home.
What is missing is the political will to achieve results. Results that will see Dawit embrace his children, who have since become adults.

مجازی شدن کلاسها در حداقل ۲۵ دانشگاه سراسری؛ اعتراض دانشجویان به بلاتکلیفی و سرگردانی
بر اساس گزارشهای رسیده به #خبرنامه_امیرکبیر، مدیریت دستکم ۲۵ دانشگاه سراسری، تنها چند روز پیش از آغاز سال تحصیلی، کلاسهای تمام یا بخشی از مقاطع تحصیلی را بهصورت ناگهانی مجازی اعلام کرده است. این تصمیمها که برای دورههای یک یا چند هفتهای اعلام شدهاند، با اعتراض دانشجویان به بلاتکلیفی آموزشی و اختلال در دسترسی به خدمات رفاهی همراه بودهاند.
بنا بر این گزارشها، بسیاری از دانشجویان پیش از انتشار اطلاعیههای دانشگاهها، از شهرهای محل سکونت خود به محل تحصیل سفر کردهاند. اعلام دیرهنگام تغییر شیوه برگزاری کلاسها، آنان را ناگزیر کرده است میان ماندن در محل تحصیل، بدون دسترسی به خدمات تغذیه و دیگر امکانات دانشگاه، و بازگشت به شهر خود و تکرار این مسیر پس از ازسرگیری آموزش حضوری، یکی را انتخاب کنند.
در این میان، دانشجویانی که برای انجام پایاننامه و فعالیتهای پژوهشی به کتابخانه و آزمایشگاه نیاز دارند، با مشکلات بیشتری مواجه شدهاند. بر اساس اطلاعات دریافتی، این دانشجویان ناچار به حضور در دانشگاههایی هستند که خدمات تغذیه و در برخی موارد، خوابگاه در اختیار آنان قرار نمیدهند.
طبق گزارشهای رسیده به خبرنامه امیرکبیر، با وجود اعلام بازههای موقت برای برگزاری مجازی کلاسها، زمان قطعی ازسرگیری آموزش حضوری در دانشگاههای مورد گزارش مشخص نشده است؛ وضعیتی که برنامهریزی برای حضور در کلاسها، اسکان و ادامه فعالیتهای پژوهشی را با ابهام روبهرو کرده است.
اعلام ناگهانی این تصمیمها، اعتراض دانشجویان و تشکلهای دانشجویی را در پی داشته است. در دانشگاه هنر، دانشگاه ولیعصر رفسنجان، دانشگاه بینالمللی قزوین و دانشگاه صنعتی شاهرود، دانشجویان و تشکلهای دانشجویی با انتشار بیانیه یا امضای نامه، به روند مجازی شدن کلاسها اعتراض کردهاند.
همچنین در برخی دانشگاهها، دانشجویان اعلام کردهاند که از تصمیم تعطیلی ناگهانی دانشگاه تبعیت نخواهند کرد و با حضور در دانشگاه، خواستار برخورداری از حق آموزش حضوری خواهند شد.

Hostage Aid deeply mourns the unexpected loss of our dear colleague and friend, Tim Receveur.
Tim was one of the first people to join Hostage Aid and was a cornerstone of the organization’s growth. As Director of Digital Initiatives since 2023, he played a crucial role in developing Hostage Aid’s database, tools and systems that have become an integral part of our work.
Tim brought intelligence, curiosity, dedication, and a sense of purpose to everything he did at Hostage Aid. The work he helped build will always be part of his legacy.
He was always smiling. Always positive. Always ready to jump in and help whenever needed and he took genuine pride in any work he did.
His loss is deeply and heartbreakingly painful. His absence will leave an irreplaceable void at the organization and in the lives of everyone who knew him.
We will miss his big smile, sense of humour, his kindness, and his brilliant mind.
Our hearts and prayers are with his wife, April and his children.

جنبش زن زندگی آزادی بیش از هر چیز همبستگی اجتماعی مردم ایران را نشان داد. قتل یک دختر کرد که به تهران سفر کرده بود شهروندان ایرانی در سراسر ایران و خارج از کشور را تحت تاثیر قرار داد چون همه ما میدانستیم آنچه بر ژینا رفت میتواند برای هر زن ایرانی دیگری نیز اتفاق بیفتد. جنبش زن زندگی آزادی بدون شک جنبشی براندازانه بود. هر چند به خاطر خشونت جمهوری اسلامی و اختلاف جریانهای سیاسی موفق به ساقط کردن حکومت نشد، اما توانست جمهوری اسلامی را تا حد زیادی از اجرای قانون حجاب اجباری بازدارد. یاد ژینا (مهسا) امینی و همهٔ جانباختگان جنبش زن زندگی آزادی گرامی باد!

چهار سال از قتل مهسا امینی گذشت؛ از خشونتی که بر او رفت، از کشته شدن و مجروح شدن و زندانی شدن هزاران ایرانی معترض و از عزادار شدن خانوادههایشان تا ایستادگیها، سوگواریها و فسردگیِ تکتکمان، و از آغاز «زن، زندگی، آزادی» در ایران.
به گمانم، خیزشهای اجتماعی جزایر جدا از هم نیستند؛ هرکدام یخشی از رنج، تجربه و حافظه پیشین را با خود حمل میکنند و به بعدی میسپارند. پیوستگی اما به معنای یکسان بودن شعار، رهبر یا مقصد سیاسی نیست؛ و نمیتوان برای اثبات تصویری مطلوب از حال و آینده، گذشته و مفهومِ تجربه میلیونها انسان را بازتعریف کرد.
ز، ز، آ نیز در همین روند، مسئله زن، بدن، کرامت انسان، معیشت، حجاب اجباری و نسبت فرد و حکومت را به رویارویی کشاند. شکافی عمیق در جامعه را آشکار کرد و در عین تکثر، میان یخش بزرگی از جامعه «مایی» ساخت که پیش از آن به این روشنی وجود نداشت. این دو با هماند و یکی دیگری را پاک نمیکند؛ تجربهای انسانی و ملی.
این جنبش، به گمان من، نفی مشخصی است: نه به تحقیر، نه به حجاب اجباری، نه به حکومت بر بدن و نه به فرودست کردنِ انسان در برابر ایدئولوژی.
همین تکثر، روایتهای مختلفی ساخته و میسازد؛ اما هر روایت مخدوشی امروز، خاستگاه واقعی دیروز را تغییر نمیدهد.
ز، ز، آ به باور من، نه نقطه آغاز این مسیر است و نه پایان آن؛ در امتداد تجربههای پیشین شکل گرفت، معنای تازهای به آنها داد و خود نیز به تجربهای برای آنچه پس از آن آمده و میآید تبدیل شد؛ بخشی از همان دریای تجربههای گران جامعه ایران که باید تا رسیدن به آزادی و دموکراسی چراغ راه بماند، نه دستاویزی برای جدلهای فرسایشی، نه بازگشتی به اصلاحطلبی بیافق در دل همین ساختار، و نه تکرار چرخه جایگزینی یک اقتدار با اقتدار دیگر.

روایت رسانههای حکومتی فقط بخش قضایی ماجرا را بازتاب داده و تخریب شبانه را حذف کرده است.

Leslie Whittington was a dedicated professor, a renowned scholar, a loving wife and an inspiring mother of two children. Each year, the McCourt School celebrates her memory and passion for teaching through the Whittington Lecture, which invites thought-leaders and change-makers to the McCourt School to deliver talks addressing pressing societal challenges, blending rigorous analysis and community engagement.
This anniversary, we take a closer look at what made her a fixture of our community: her research, her teaching and the students and colleagues who still carry her legacy with them today. Our thoughts are with the Whittington family, who continue to mourn the loss of Leslie, her husband Charles Falkenberg, and daughters Zoe and Dana who tragically died on American Airlines Flight 77 on September 11, 2001.
