ConCourt declares sale of Tafelberg site in Cape Town unlawful

Big ups to everyone involved in this landmark ruling! ✊🏿✊🏿

@ConCourtSA:
Unanimous judgment:
@CityofCT & @WesternCapeGov
City of Cape Town remains divided. The matter is about full access to the City about “Right to the City”.
Location is not a peripheral to housing access.
State bears a burden to align with Constitutional transformation.
City had failed to provide any housing in well located areas.
No justification for City’s policies lacking geographical location considerations.
No justification for failing to provide housing in Sea Point.
City cannot use land value as a basis for denying access to housing.
(Helen Zille told me “using high value land for affordable housing was over subsidizing the poor”)
City and Province has failed in their constitutional duties to provide well located affordable housing and to address spatial apartheid.
VICTORY!
Disposal of Tafelberg School site by WC Government was unlawful.
@ReclaimCT @NdifunaUkwazi 👏👏👏
#KnowYourDA
The Constitutional Court ruled today that the City of Cape Town & Western Cape Government entrenched apartheid spatial housing patterns by failing to provide affordable housing in areas such as Sea Point & Cape Town CBD.

SAPS Dismisses Brigadier Rachel Matjeng
Brigadier Rachel Matjeng has been dismissed from the South African Police Service with effect from 30 June 2026.
The dismissal follows the conclusion of an internal disciplinary process that found her guilty on multiple counts of serious misconduct arising from her relationship with alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane welcomed the outcome, saying it sends a clear message that corruption, criminality and any form of collusion with criminals have no place in the SAPS.

The plot thickens as former DA Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister, Dion George, confirms he was repeatedly pressured by Tony Leon and Resolve Communications and believes his refusal led to the campaign to remove him.

We tend to forget that the DA is just another political party, just better at managing factions, but they exist. They flair up from time to time, but we quickly move on. Same as use of proximity to power for business interest. John played same game, he just lost hence the tears.

In my book, The Accidental Mayor, I exposed how Tony Leon's PR Firm - Resolve Communications, improperly tried to facilitate a R300m tender in 2019 for one of its clientsfrom Mashaba as Mayor of Joburg.
Mashaba kicked him out and, from that moment, the DA turned on Mashaba. – at Sandton, South Africa
Replying to @GugsM
He says Tony Leon’s PR company has lobbied against him through his company Resolve Communications which is doing work for FMD Response SA. Steenhuisen also says DA ministers, most notably Solly Malatsi, were contacted to meet with Starlink as other lobby work by Resolve.
