Federal authorities intercepted 90 shipments carrying approximately 620,000 gallons of biodiesel, valued at nearly $3 million, that were bound for Cuba and destined for ENETEC S.A., an entity sanctioned by the United States. Let me be absolutely clear: Miami-Dade County will not be a safe haven for any company that violates the laws of the United States or conducts prohibited business with sanctioned entities connected to Cuba’s communist-socialist dictatorship. The federal investigation remains ongoing, and the companies responsible for these shipments have not yet been publicly identified. But if federal authorities provide credible and verified evidence that a business operating in Miami-Dade County violated federal law, sanctions, or applicable export restrictions, our office will review the facts, respect due process, and use every legal tool available to us, including beginning the process to revoke a Local Business Tax Receipt when authorized by law. No individual and no company is above the law. Protecting our residents and the national security of the United States of America must always come first. 90 FUEL SHIPMENTS BOUND FOR SANCTIONED CUBAN ENTITY SEIZED Through the incredible work of @HSI_Miami, @CBP, and @CommerceGov's Bureau of Industry and Security, all federal partners seized biodiesel fuel shipments valued at over $2.8M being unlawfully exported to Cuba. We will continue to identify, disrupt, and investigate efforts to evade U.S. sanctions, protect the integrity of U.S. export controls and deny the Cuban government access to resources obtained in violation of U.S. law.
