ARP2/3 COMPLEX IN ACTION
Arp2/3 creates networks of branched actin filaments, and plays roles in endocytosis, membrane trafficking, cell motility, etc. But do not be fooled by the vast literature. We are only scratching the surface of how Arp2/3 functions in cells.

Happy Wednesday from the newest members of the Fowler lab - the giant podocyte, platelet, and red blood cells! Starting with the podocyte: 1,000,000x, 5,000,000x, 1,250,000x, and 750,000x actual size.
Today marks the end of summer intern season in the Fowler lab! We hosted two high school students and one undergrad who made significant progress in our RBC myosin and lens tropomyosin projects. Thanks @hightechhigh @ScrippsRTI and @SD_LSSI for making these internships possible.
Nominate your favorite female microscopists! There are only two in San Diego so far.

Yes! The human eye can detect so much more information from grayscale images. xitter.cf/MAG2ART/status/1021412…
DISPLAY DATA IN GRAYSCALE
Don't get me wrong, I do love color overlays of microscopy #data. However, try to show each grayscale channel when possible (especially in figures). When it comes to data, more is more.
