Promoting green and inclusive mobility, President Droupadi Murmu launched RAAHI (Rashtrapati Bhavan Access And Heritage Interconnector), a fare-free electric bus service, on completion of four years of her Presidency.
Introduced for the staff and residents of the President's Estate, the 27-seater bus is equipped with wheelchair accessibility and is operated by women drivers and conductors. The initiative aims to provide safe, convenient and inclusive mobility, particularly for women, children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

At #SheSparks2026, Hazira, Kumari Arti, and Shashi shared how mobility transformed their lives.
Through Azad Foundation’s Women with Wheels programme, they moved from domestic work and unsafe commutes to becoming professional drivers and instructors, earning steadily and reclaiming independence.
They spoke candidly about the barriers women face.
How society expects women to stay within the household.
How financial dependence often means not being able to ask for what you want.
Today, driving has given them more than a profession, it has given them safety, confidence, and the power to make their own choices.
Because sometimes, the road to independence really begins behind the wheel.

At #SheSparks2026, Shashi from @FoundationAzad's Women with Wheels programme spoke about what it takes to follow a dream.
When she first decided to become a driver, there were natural concerns at home about safety.
Like many families, her parents worried about her stepping into a space rarely imagined for women.
But their support never left her side.
With the encouragement of her mother and father, Shashi found the confidence to keep going and pursue her dream.
Because courage may start the journey—
but family support is what helps you finish it.

This public toilet near Sovabazar is used daily by women in Kolkata’s informal sector. Unsafe, unhygienic, undignified — they deserve better. @FirhadHakim, @kmc_kolkata urgent attention needed

When boys take part in everyday tasks like arranging utensils, cleaning home, folding clothes, it is not about helping women; it is about owning their role as equal members of the household.

When boys learn to cook, clean, and care without fear of judgment, they are not only supporting their families but also helping to break deep-rooted inequalities.

We are reshaping attitudes, showing boys that household work isn’t “women’s work,” it’s everyone’s.

We often glorify “maa ke haath ka khana” (food cooked by mothers) while ignoring the unpaid labour that goes into it. With Papa’s Kitchen, Azad Jaipur made this invisible labour visible, normalising the role of fathers & brothers in the kitchen.
