New level I've been working on. You don't start off with the full movement kit but the movement is still super fun with the limited kit

Acting like the solve is to make the designs more “functional” is underselling your creative reach so hard. Games can *create* functional associations. Red and white mushrooms were poison before Mario made them a power up. Now you’re literally using them as a symbol for healer.

Love that Eternal Sonata was still doing that effect where they turn down the brightness of a 3D model when they stand in the shade. No need for computationally expensive dynamic shadows!

Honestly, it's just the colors. I find a photo that I deem is closest to natural and adjust colors of textures to match it. There's no PBR, nor lighting (except for vertex baked shadows/occlusion) so that is why it's easy to tweak for "photorealism".

It's interesting how noisy these graphics are, but how they look almost photorealistic at a glance. Perhaps we're doing rendering wrong and we should just be giving players the noisiest inputs possible and letting their brains fill in the blanks, our brains do this all the time😅

ALT Two cartoon gloves clasp the hands of Hidetaka Miyazaki. A voice comes from the owner of the gloves saying "I love you, Hidetaka Miyazaki" Miyazaki says "I love YOU, poison swamp" revealing that the gloves belong to an anthropomorphic poison swamp. Miyazaki begins making out with the poison swamp with a MMMPH sound. As Miyazaki kisses the swamp, his poison meter starts building up."

EVERY SINGLE ROCK on The Covenant is the same rock.
EVERY ONE. ALL OF THEM. THERE IS ONE SINGLE ROCK ON THE COVENANT.
NOT TWO, NOT THREE, JUST ONE.
IT'S JUST ONE ROCK ROTATED, SCALED, AND MOVED AROUND.
