One time, before we were even engaged, my now-husband said the following:
“Do you know why they call it General Tso’s chicken? It stands for That Shit’s Outstanding.”
I knew then and there that I needed to marry him.
I think of it every time I have Chinese food (like tonight).

Everything you give your attention to will grow.
Your problems? They will seem bigger.
Your goals? They will get closer.
Energy and attention are within your control.
Direct them wisely.

In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering.
In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don't have much time? Scale it down. Don't have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day.
Adaptability is the way of consistency.

Please, I beg you, stop making changes to your ad accounts all the time.
Google and Facebook aren't nimble little speed boats. They're big, slow cargo ships.
Algos perform their best when they're operating under consistent parameters. When you make changes, performance will generally get worse until they understand the new parameters.
If you're giving them new parameters every single day, they're never going to be able to learn, and your performance is going to suck.
If you're experiencing bad performance and you've been making changes all the time, I challenge you to not touch your accounts for a week and see if performance is better.
I can pretty much guarantee it will be.

Marketing tip: use reach maps to demonstrate the importance of reaching enough people to have an impact.
Most companies aren't reaching anywhere near enough people - putting this into a chart is a quick way to visualize the problem.

Here's the telltale sign you're working with a strong PPC agency.
This is what the account looks like for a project we are potentially inheriting from a certified great agency. And what you see here is a year's worth of notes on the account.
Recording changes in notes is a small detail that great agencies do and not-great agencies don't.
By reading the notes, it has taken me 10 minutes to get up to speed on what the last agency was doing in the account.
If you're not making notes in the account, start doing it. When you're making changes, add notes about what you're changing. If there are issues, make notes about those too.
Did conversions break for a little bit. Have a note the day that first happened and then a note on the day it was fixed.
Anyone who comes into the account at a later date will appreciate it.

Some people will never buy from your site, but they might:
1. Buy your product on Amazon where they feel safe, already have all their payment and shipping information stored, and know they won't get bombarded by your brand's emails.
2. Buy your product when they see it in stores on a shelf and just have to toss it in their cart.
You can't really track it, but your ads drive these actions in addition to the direct and immediate sales you can track.

The biggest difference between rookie and pro Google Ads Specialists:
Rookies focus on the click and stop there.
They say:
“PPC is about driving high quality clicks to the website, what happens after is not my responsibility.”
That’s true to a certain extent, but pros have a different mindset.
Pros focus on the click, and analyze what happens after.
They say:
“We’re driving high quality clicks to the website, but we’re seeing a drop off in conversion rates in our funnel. Let’s fix it!”
PPC isn’t about driving clicks - it’s about increasing profits (or whatever KPI) through high quality clicks.
The pros understand that.
You need to actively spend time analyzing everything that happens after the click to be successful.
That doesn’t mean you need to do everything yourself.
It means you should look holistically at your account and identify trends early.
Then, when it gets too technical, just loop in a specialist who can help with for example Conversion Rate Optimization.
What’s your stance on this?
