⚠️ UPDATES from Venezuela. Local health workers are working around the clock and need our support. Project HOPE and our long-term partners @samu_usa are actively conducting search and rescue operations in La Guaira, one of the most heavily impacted areas. Medical personnel and a K-9 Search and Rescue Team are working through the night to locate survivors and save more lives. Juan Hidalgo Martínez, SAMU’s, Canine Handler/Instructor shared, “A dog is capable of locating survivors—or the remains of victims—at "Ground Zero," and the work of these K9s is so vital that, without their contribution, countless individuals would go unfound.” We are so proud to have Homero, Aquiles, and Gio as part of our heroic response team. Additionally, the 14 Project HOPE-supported health facilities are treating traumatic injuries, caring for survivors and helping families begin the long road to recovery. They are absolutely overwhelmed with patients, have no electricity, many have no running water, and all of them are desperate for supplies as they are running out of IV fluids, bandages, pain medications and other critical pharmaceuticals. At the same time, our team of more than 100 people who call Venezuela home is responding to this disaster while many are coping with damage to their own homes and communities.
