I make far more as an independent contractor than I would as an employee of any of my clients. As do many women of color like me. #PROAct destroys paths to success for women, people of color, as well as those with disabilities, caring for elders and more. #NoPROAct.
#fightforfreelancers has no problem w/employees forming a union.
But #PROAct ABC Test can't tell the difference between them & an independent translator or writer earning $65k.

There is a simple answer for misclassification of independent contractors. Please continue to withhold support for #PROAct until it can be amended to use the existing language from the IRS Test for worker classification instead of the devastating #ABCTest.

Agreed - the ABC Test will negatively impact small businesses (like mine) who use independent contractors for client projects. Many 1099 people don't want to be classified as employees. @SenateDems @SenateGOP
Senators, please don't clothe oppression in the cloaks of false righteousness. #PROAct as written will hurt the most vulnerable: single moms, people with disabilities, those caring for elders, minorities who can't catch a break in the corporate rat race. #NoABCforUSA

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what is intended, either. The end result of the #PROAct would be millions of freelancers losing income and clients, even in cases where no W2 job exists. There are other financial consequences of being forced into W2 jobs as well.
