A reminder that the NC GOP changed how the state board of elections functions after Josh Stein won the 2024 election for governor, transferring the power to decide the majority on the board from the governor's office... to the office of the auditor, which the GOP happened to win.
The State Board of Elections’ last-minute changes to voting by mail are leading to thousands more absentee ballots being rejected this election - at a rejection rate twice as high as in 2022. It’s infuriating. North Carolinians, please make a plan to vote this year, in person if possible. And if you’re voting by mail, make sure you seal both envelopes on your ballot. Don’t let them take away your vote.
This is one of the most obvious indicators that the two parties are not the same and don’t value democracy the same. Republicans have stripped power from state offices in AZ, KY, NC, WI, and other states immediately after they were won by Democrats. Democrats do not do this.

Gov. Kehoe: Voters deserved...not for the rules to be changed between elections.
SCOTUS: [Hoskins] was well aware that conducting the August primary election with the 2025 map carried significant risks. [Hoskins] nonetheless chose to proceed with the 2025 map for the primary.
It is disappointing that today’s decision by the United States Supreme Court means Missouri will conduct its November general election under a different congressional map than its primary election.
Voters deserved consistency and certainty, and not for the rules to be changed between elections.
Nevertheless, Missouri will follow the Court’s order.

I hope every American is paying attention to what is happening in Missouri.
In an attempt to steal a congressional seat and silence the voices of voters, state officials are repeatedly breaking the law, hoping the cloud of chaos will enable them to succeed in their nefarious efforts.
The courts must not enable this shameful behavior.
