There was a period of time when I considered really trying to take writing serious, craft my novels, etc. And I got the same advice, to just use 'said.' But then I saw the latest Twilight novel, picked it up, and I found characters scream, whisper, growl... So, then what?

i had a creative writing professor who gave the opposite advice. the brain eventually stops noticing the repetition of “said” which allows you to easily imagine the conversation. specific verbs can be intrusive and distracting and should only be used when absolutely necessary

Fun times: Shplief, my mysterious budget puzzle game, is now 187/200 puzzles complete (93.5%!). I know I haven't shown much of it, though! I've been operating on a "build it now, polish/make it pretty later" basis. Looking forward to showing more of my next weird game real soon!
