🎬 AMPIA’s Executive Director Kelly Fox Sits Down with CBC News Alberta
What could a proposed U.S. federal film and TV tax incentive mean for Alberta’s screen industry? 🎥
AMPIA’s Executive Director Kelly Fox spoke with CBC News Alberta about what a proposed U.S. federal film and TV tax incentive could mean for Alberta and Canada’s screen industry.
Canada has seen significant benefits as productions look beyond California and other U.S. markets, bringing jobs and investment north of the border.
“They're seeing a real drop in the numbers in California, in production, in full-time jobs in the industry. And where are the jobs going? They're going to Canada. They're going to other places in the world.”
With competition for productions becoming increasingly global, Alberta’s tax credits, skilled workforce, infrastructure, and other advantages continue to play an important role in attracting investment and jobs to the province. At the same time, a strong Canadian screen industry is about more than attracting foreign productions, we need to ensure we can continue to tell the stories that matter to Canadians, by Canadians, and build a sustainable industry that supports both.
