A tragic for all things Rugby League, Cricket and MotoGP. Occasionally with a bit of Football for good measure.

England have gone with an unchanged squad against France. I wasn't expecting wholesale changes, but I am surprised the likes of Watkins and Lewis haven't made the matchday 19. Still expect England to beat France, but I can't see it being anything like the Samoa scoreline...
Squad is named for #EnglandRL's @rugbyleagueworldcup match against France this Saturday 💪

If there's just one article you can read about the desparate state English/British Rugby League is in right now - make sure it's this one. A brilliant, but utterly sobering, appraisal of the situation by @johnnyddavidson

For all the negatives of today's game, this was a beautiful highlight. 3 NRL lads showing us how it's done. Young with a brilliant carry through contact. Savala drawing the Tongans out of line, and Brimson with the clinical finish. More of this going forward, please! #RLWC2026
AJ Brimson delivers a massive try for @England_RL 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 A beautiful move from Brian McDermott's side 😍

Things to change for the France game: New halves: give Mikey Lewis licence to roam, and Hugo Savala also has experience at 7. Williams/Smith combo just too predictable. Farnworth to fullback. Give him space, he's lethal. Hope Knowles recovers from injury in time

Some positives @England_RL can take from the defeat to Tonga: Brimson, Savala and Young were all excellent. King was solid on debut, and was clearly a marked 'danger' man for Tonga - always mobbed by them. Farnworth, when he found some space, looked dangerous. Switch him to FB?

The negatives: Going with the same tried and predicatble half-back combo from the Ashes put us on the back foot to start with. The pack, whilst having occassional periods on top, are too small to physically dominate the other Tier 1 teams. A lack of composure in the final third.

This is on the RFL, the absolute state of the England team is on them! Need the NRL in now to save our sport! The state of this England team is a reflection of where our sport is!

I'd go even further and say a defeat to France next week would be the ultimate trigger moment we need to happen. France got pummelled by Samoa, yes, but they're also a better side than Tonga. Things must change - the gap between northern and southern hemispheres is becoming vast
England need this. The administrators in the Northern Hemisphere need to know just how miles off we are now. A 'brave' semi-final exit gets us nowhere.

Seeing a lot of English rugby league fans finding joy in France's drubbing. It's worth pointing out that Samoa are stacked with top-end NRL players, whilst France are predominantly made up of mid-table super league players. The gulf between the two leagues is clear to see

France are building something good - Toulouse are committed to developing home-grown talent, and Catalans have recently committed to doing similar. This will obviously take time but with the right investment, they will get there. The situation with the RFL does not help matters
17
Since the RFL are too corrupt/grossly incompetent to agree a rescue deal with the NRL, perhaps V'landys and co should help awaken the other sleeping giant of the northern hemisphere. Besides, a strong France might be what England really needs to kick itself back into shape. 🇫🇷
🇫🇷 WE NEED HELP: French captain Benjamin Garcia has issued an impassioned plea for greater support of the game in his home country. It comes as he attempts to keep rugby league alive in France. @FOXNRL foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pre…

This is going to get ugly quickly if this deal collapses, by the way. The term 'civil war' has been put to me by more than one person close to this deal. Super League is completely in limbo: no sponsor, no schedule, no format, no start date, no clarity on teams. It's mid-October

The heartland clubs and fans need to remember one thing. Rugby league was created to fight the rugby establishment who closed doors and denied people being paid. Now they're doing exactly the same thing they fought against.

Well there’s enough horrid stuff going on in the world so here’s Vic & Bob inviting Mark Lamarr to do the Mammalathon Challenge.

A pathetic 3-0 ashes loss. Nigel Wood heads the game. 14 team super league when only 8 teams are any good. Likely to be a 8 team playoff 10 quota players per team. Waqa Blake is a super league player again. The 🇬🇧 sport is in the 💩💩 Save us @NRL🙏🙏🙏

There must surely be an inquest into this series. England fronted up again for periods of today's game but, barring a moment of magic from Jez Litten, couldn't break through. A most ruthless lesson in clinical finishing from a fully firing Australia, this afternoon. #RLAshes

That is a very miserable end. Theme of the series really; England squared up in patches but the quality has been desperately lacking. You suspect there will have to be some sort of inquest into this. What a missed opportunity for the game in this country.

In position for the final game of the series. Pride on the line boys, let's not get beaten a third time today! #RLAshes
