Some have asked about this: Susan and I wanted our gift to give 25 million children a stronger start and to reach communities where it could make the greatest difference. We began with all eligible children born between 2016 and 2024 who signed up before auto-enrollment and lived in ZIP codes with median family income of $150,000 or less. We wanted families who took that first step to know they could count on our commitment. Next were military children living overseas who also signed up before auto-enrollment. They represented a very small share of our $6.25 billion gift, but we didn’t want to leave them out because their military addresses didn’t fit the usual ZIP-code income framework. Their parents are serving our country abroad, and we want these children included in the future we are investing in. When all American children were auto-enrolled at the beginning of this month, we immediately began funding the accounts of all children born 2016 to 2024 in eligible ZIP codes, beginning in ZIP codes with lowest median family income and moving progressively to higher median family income, up to 25 million accounts in total. We chose this approach with care and a simple hope: that these investments will open doors and help millions of children build the futures they dream of. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

On September 11, 2001, Mark Dodge, a 20 year old Army soldier, survived the Pentagon attack and returned with his unit to help others. He moved survivors to triage tents and searched the wreckage for survivors and victims’ remains. His unit spent days on recovery efforts and nights patrolling the capital Five years after those acts of heroism, the Army veteran made his Texas A&M debut. He played linebacker from 2006–07, recording 168 tackles and two interceptions, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors

In Texas I went to a game where the entire student side of the stadium did not sit down for four hours. I assumed the seats were broken. I checked the one next to me. It worked. I asked a student named Tyler why nobody was sitting. He said, "In case they need us." That was the whole answer. In my land we have a saying, always on the battlefield. A samurai does not lounge in the presence of a lord who may call him. He stands, so that when the call comes there is no distance between the call and the man. Here were thirty thousand of them. Standing. In case. I asked Tyler how often they are needed. He thought about it. "Once." Once. In 1922. The team was running out of healthy men, and a student named Gill was called down out of the stands. He put on an injured player's uniform and stood on the sideline, ready, for the rest of the game. He never went in. They won without him. That is the whole origin. A man who did not play. A hundred years of standing for a man who did not play. So I stood. I am not a student. I was not going to be called under any reading of the rules. My knees began filing complaints in the third quarter and I ignored them, because Tyler was nineteen and had stood through every home game for three years and had never once been called, and was not bitter about it, and was in fact eating nachos. Nobody was called. Nobody has been called since 1922. The knees of Texas do not care. In my land we say be ready at every moment. Texas built thirty thousand seats and refuses to use them.

I was honored to speak to TPWD commissioners and executives on behalf of all Texans & my family, the founders of the Sauceda Ranch, now Big Bend Ranch State Park regarding the history, and reasons to protect the Ranch from the proposed wall and road construction project. This federal project was approved by the US Congress, but without authority from Texas, which owns the land in our Federated decentralized form of government, will limit access to the River, damage cave paintings, ruin 17 of the 179 archeological sites, lighten dark skies, and stress the protected species which need to drink from the Rio Grande nor be threatened by Border Patrol dragging tires, installing new roads, bollards etc. While I am fervently in favor of border security, the Big Bend sector has 26% of the total mileage of the border between the US and Mexico and less than 1.3% of illegal crossings occur in this CBP Sector at the Rio Bravo and these sensitive lands between Langtry and Candelaria, TX. Spending billions here is not a good use of our taxpayer money, when electronic surveillance will do the job. A Border Patrolman in Marfa told me this as well. Ruining this sacred land would make many Texans VERY angry, and sad- including me - this is a completely across the aisle issue. One of 99 registered speakers, I was the only one speaking about the Sauceda Ranch history which is now BBRSP - the largest State Park in Texas - these are state lands and not federal that I’m referring to and that our referenced in front of Texas wildlife department, which owns the land along with the General Land Office. If you would like a copy of my 4 page speaker notes, send me a direct message. One of my favorite Steve Jobs quotes... “A small team of A+ players can run circles around a giant team of B and C players.” How to tell A players from B & C players: - they get more done in less time - they make the people around them better - they bring better solutions than what you have - they make quick decisions without needing permission - they hold themselves to a higher bar than anyone else would One A-player is worth more than three B or C players combined.

At Texas A&M University, we serve with purpose, lead with character and take action for the good of our communities. This is what it means to be an Aggie: to believe that what we can do together is far greater than what any one of us can do alone. For 150 years, Aggies have embodied that belief for Texas and for America. Together, we stand. Together, we serve. Together, we are a force for good. Learn more: tx.ag/2026BrandAnthem
