Around 1.5 million households rely on heating oil to warm their homes
Prices have nearly doubled over the past year. Many of these households are in rural areas and with elderly residents. And still the Labour government do nothing ~ even as temperatures are dropping.

“There is a real question here, and the school itself has put its finger on it: are bright boys from every part of Reading, and every income bracket, getting a fair shot?
Reading School pupils deserve praise for their achievements. I reject Restore's attempt to turn their diversity into a threat.
Every child deserves a fair chance, whatever their background. 💚

We aren’t ready for this
But we aren’t talking about it because it’s only happening slowly
What's going to happen when a generation of private renters start to retire with no housing security?
This week's Substack (an extract from Homesick) asks a question that housing policy is frighteningly unwilling to contemplate:

This sums it up, a lot of properties bought under the last scheme have drop in value and now they cannot be bought by people using the new scheme.
Replying to @KirstieMAllsopp
I find it almost incomprehensible that any government would repeat this scheme again. Perhaps speak with people stuck in new build flats they can't sell due to negative equity etc following the last HTB.

This is not normal. What is happening at @neso_energy?
Replying to @neso_energy
@neso_energy was forced to ask for Emergency Assistance from RTE this evening as frequency sagged to 49.74 Hz
It also accepted a bunch of units in the BM at just under £700 /MWh
Today has been windy and nothing tripped, or at least no trip was reported on the LCP Enact dashboard that scrapes BMRS

FUEL CRISIS LIVE TRACKER
The Labour government has announced a breakthrough in the cost-of-living crisis. Drivers can now open Google Maps, search for a forecourt, and see which one is selling diesel for 1p less than the one down the road, instead of having to log into one of the many websites that already provide this service.
Ministers described the Fuel Finder scheme as a decisive intervention, that won't cost them a penny. Under the rules, stations must report prices within half an hour, covering almost every litre sold in the country. The data then appears on phones, so motorists can compare local options in real time.
Officials estimate the average car-owning household could save around £4 a year by shopping around. That is roughly the cost of two moderately priced litres of diesel, which ironically, won't be enough fuel for the longer journeys to the fuel station.
The alternative — cutting fuel duty — was examined and set aside. Duty remains where it is and diesel remains near £2 a litre. The new policy does not change any of those facts. It changes the precision with which you can observe them.
Early users have reported the satisfaction of knowing, to the penny, exactly how much they are overpaying, and of being able to share that knowledge with other people who are also overpaying.
