In 1993, Morocco's parliament had 2 women. By 2026, 96 women in parliament, and in 2 days, the country will vote to elect 395 members of the House of Representatives, with 60 seats reserved for women by law, putting female representation at roughly 24% of the legislature. But here's the real question our latest blog digs into: do reserved seats for representation actually translate into influence for women leaders? Or does it stop at the seat count?

The inaugural Africa Mindset Reset Forum has officially come to a close in Kigali. Convened by the @ASG_Africa, the #MindsetReset2026 Forum brought together more than 6,000 registered participants from 74 countries, including over 1,000 who attended in person. Across two days, Kigali became a convening point for conversations on African leadership, governance, human capital, institutions and the continent’s capacity to shape its own future. For Ms Monica Geingos, the development of young African human capital is the catalyst behind this work.
The urgency of developing a strong bench of ethical and purpose-driven young Africans is what drives the work of the @LabYetu, informs the work of the @One_Namibia, compelled her to champion the work at the @EJSCenter and inspired her service to @Kepler_College.

"Leadership is not always the presidency. It is not always the prime minister, the minister, or the parliamentarian. Leadership is that woman who stands out in a marketplace, in a classroom, in a church, and demonstrates standing principles." — H.E. @MaEllenSirleaf
Closing the opening ceremony of the Amujae High-Level Leadership Forum in Dakar. She expressed profound gratitude to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the people of Senegal for their gracious hospitality in welcoming the Amujae leaders to Dakar with open arms. Merci, Sénégal! Jërëjëf! 🇸🇳

“We do not just need political reform; we need to generalize the 50/50 equality law and take it to the @_AfricanUnion level, making it a requirement for all African countries.”
— Madam @aminatatoureklk, former Prime Minister of Senegal and Special Adviser to H.E. @PR_Diomaye, addressing the 2026 Amujae High-Level Leadership Forum in Dakar.
"Women's political leadership is not a democratic luxury or a quota to be filled. It is an imperative for the survival and development of our nations. Do not ask permission to impact your communities. Speak up in decision-making bodies, champion bold reforms on girls' education, women's economic empowerment, justice, and security. Africa in 2026 no longer has time for unfulfilled promises."
— Her Excellency Catherine Samba-Panza, former President of the Central African Republic, opening the 2026 Amujae High-Level Leadership Forum.

We interrupt our Amujae High-Level Leadership Forum highlights to celebrate incredible news! Amujae Leader Kanungwe Chota Kanyanyamina of Zambia 🇿🇲 has been elected as Member of Parliament for Lwitikila Constituency! Hon. Kanyanyamina now becomes the youngest female MP in Zambia.
Before stepping into this new chapter, she served as Council Chairperson and Mayor of Kanchibiya District, where she championed local development. We are so proud to celebrate you, Honorable Kanyanyamina!
"No continent can speak of true development while excluding half of its population. The presence of women in leadership does not complete the work of women's empowerment; it must keep the door open and make the journey easier for those who come after us.. Representation is not the finish line" These were the resounding words of @SWAPOPRESIDENT
