Last week, the i-BreakFree team held sessions with the Teen Mothers and Fathers Clubs in Outapi, Ruacana and Okahao Constituencies, with a total of 30 participants across the three towns.
The sessions focused on strengthening club leadership, identifying members’ support needs and exploring ways to sustain club activities. Members discussed electing club leaders, accessing resources such as funding, meeting venues and land, and mobilising support through partnerships with community organisations, local businesses and traditional leaders. Ideas included fundraising, offering cleaning and catering services, and requesting agricultural materials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform.
Social workers from the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) encouraged teen parents to register their clubs with the relevant welfare authorities to improve their access to funding and other support. Members were also encouraged to remain committed, work together and seek counselling when needed. Discussions further addressed gender-based violence (GBV), its impact on relationships and children, and the importance of safe, supportive family environments.
Jason Nambahu, iBreakFree’s AGYW Regional Coordinator for the Omusati Region, emphasised the power of collective action through the message: T.E.A.M. — Together Everyone Achieves More.
Through these engagements, iBreakFree continues to strengthen peer-support networks, promote community partnerships and empower teen mothers and fathers to build sustainable support systems for themselves and their children.
And just like that, we wrapped up our two-day Reimagine Session! 🤩✨
Today, we came together as a team to openly discuss how we can turn our shared vision for One Economy Foundation into reality. ✨
A special shout-out to our facilitators from the Institute of Telling Development for creating the space for these conversations, and to each and every team member at One Economy Foundation. You are a reminder that the power of an organisation lies in its people.
The ideas, honesty, passion, and commitment each person brings to the table are what make the work we do possible. You are truly magical! 💛
Our conversations focused on how we can strengthen our approach, develop practical strategies, and work together to sustain and grow our impact on young people. 🌱
We leave with fresh perspectives, a clearer sense of direction, and a shared commitment to building the One Economy Foundation we envision for the future.✨

As we commemorate World Mental Health Day, One Economy Foundation remains committed to the mental and emotional well-being of young people, through wellness initiatives and psychosocial support.
Through our weekly
programmes such as Majita Mondays, we create opportunities to engage young men around wellness, healthy masculinity and the importance of looking after their mental health. The Wellness Wednesdays programme, encourages young people to prioritise their well-being.
In August, we hosted Game Changers: Run and Jog, a major wellness event where athletes became human billboards, wearing T-shirts with affirming messages such as “Men Do Cry.” This used sport as a platform to challenge harmful stereotypes around masculinity, encourage emotional expression and show that mental health matters.
We recently concluded our yearlong, four-part Barbershop Talks series, encouraging men to speak openly about issues affecting their lives.
Just this week, Olympian and global marathon advisor Roberto Mandje spoke to participants about the importance of mental health.
Together, these initiatives reflect our holistic and integrated approach to services at the #BeFree Youth Campus, combining wellness activities, psychosocial support and open dialogue to support young people’s overall well-being.
Below is a photo album capturing some of our work.

So often, we get so caught up in getting it done, that stopping to reflect becomes almost impossible. 🫣
Today and tomorrow, the team behind the work and impact for young people at One Economy Foundation is taking a step back for a Reimagine Session, a space to pause, reflect on why we do what we do, appreciate how far we have come, recognise the work of the team, and reimagine where we are going next. ✨
Facilitated by the Institute of Telling Development, the session is giving us room to renew our strength, reconnect with our purpose and look at challenges through a different lens. 🌱
One key reflection so far: Nothing gets better by focusing on what has already gone wrong. Difficult situations can be approached with an eye of possibility. 💭
Here’s to reflecting, reimagining and moving forward with renewed purpose.

From the streets of Windhoek to the gates of @BeFreeYouth! 🤩
The #BeFree Youth Campus was thrilled to serve as the official finish line for Olympian and global marathon advisor Roberto Mandje this morning, as he successfully completed the Namibian leg of his epic Africa 7 (A7) Run Your Purpose campaign. 🏃♂️🇳🇦
Sponsored by ABO Capital, this endurance challenge demands that Roberto run 7 full marathons across 7 different African countries in 7 consecutive days to leverage the unifying power of sports, spotlighting Africa’s vast potential and opening doors in education, healthcare, and economic development.
Upon finishing his Namibian marathon right here at our campus gates, Roberto was welcomed by our Executive Director, Mrs. Pauline Thomas Kahupi, alongside the #BeFree staff, representatives from the @SonNamibia , the Masilingi Sprints Academy, @WhkCityRunners, Physically Active Youth Namibia (PAY), Red Bull Namibia, the Khomas Regional Youth Officer, and his family.
Our Youth Officer, Mbakumua Tjaveondja, led Roberto on a campus tour, showcasing the work we do and how we actively champion youth mental health, holistic wellness, and empowerment for young people.
Emphasising the importance of mental health, Roberto spoke to the group about how it remains one of the main driving forces behind his advocacy. He stressed that no matter how successful, accomplished, or financially well-off a person may be, true well-being and the ability to thrive ultimately depend on having a healthy mind. 💪✨
Special shout-out to everyone who joined us to welcome him today, and we wish @RobertoMandje all the best as he continues his remaining marathons across the continent! 🌍🙌
