Turns out if you treat doctors like shit, less people will want to become doctors.

It was CCT and flee Now it’s graduate and escape The only thing I would question here is the % of med students looking to do this - 75% are making plans towards other countries/other industries Remember, the workforce plan needs 95% of these graduates to join the workforce beyond F2 1/n
A quick question to the elders of Med Twitter - what can med students do to better engage and have our views heard? Just under 50% of my academic year are fleeing abroad or leaving medicine. Similar across other schools. We feel we’re banging on a closed door.

Have you torn your ACL? Be sure to ask your surgeon what your tibial slope is, this can impact the correct procedure for you. The addition of an LET can reduce the stress on your ACL graft if your slope is increased. #educatethepatient @SPRIVail ow.ly/bK1e50PAZOX

Excellent below from Bart’s CEO Charles Knight “We have to recognise there’s a global problem in healthcare workforce. There’s no point in having remuneration here that’s not internationally competitive, it’s not going to work & you will see a brain drain from this country”
'Normally in a war when soldiers are expected to fight at the frontline, everyone knows that you can't do that all the time.' As the NHS turns 75, St Bartholomew's Chief Executive Charles Knight tells @HenryRiley1 why its morale has dropped to an all-time low. @mdstbarts

Should read: ‘Ministers sign the death certificate of over 100,000 despite desperate opposition of unions’ theguardian.com/society/2023… Not giving #fullpayrestoration is the only guaranteed way in which the acceleration of the problems the public can clearly see occur. - currently 50k deaths occur per year that are not necessary - with the ‘pay rise’ AGAIN 50% below inflation there will be churn of healthcare staff (you know, the ones that save our lives) - this churn means that years of experience and knowledge and skillset are immediately lost from the system - literally meaning that you will get care, but it’ll be delivered with less staff (we’re already 120k short), meaning longer delays in care, meaning more deaths and morbidity. It’ll also be delivered with staff with less experience, they are still learning, there may be more errors due to this, further delays, further mortality and morbidity. - seeing bad patient outcomes demoralises our hard working staff - they leave even quicker - cycle continues - in an exponentially worse manner - ie the service gets even worse even more quickly - 100,000 of our loved ones dying prematurely and unnecessarily is actually probably an underestimate per year if this happens. - feel free to call me out on this tweet next year if it’s wrong (I’m hoping it is) @DHSCgovuk - someone please fight for the NHS and for your loved ones even if no one else’s. You can’t truly believe this is what nation deserves or is remotely the best you can do for them. @theRCN @patcullen9 @TheBMA @BMA_JuniorDocs @SkyNewsThompson
