Hey #MedStudentTwitter #DisabledDocs does anyone know folks who deal with accommodations request denials? I've got a friend who is struggling mightily who could use some advice. Please DM if you're open to talking or helping me connect with someone, it's pretty time-sensitive!

Hello #DocsWithDisabilities / #DisabledDocs! It's been a while. I've been off twitter during a very busy intern year. I'm catching up on messages now and will continue to pair up mentees and mentors. I appreciate your patience! #MedTwitter #MedStudentTwitter

Friendly reminder that right now, I am only accepting mentees as folks who have not yet started medical school. I agree that disabled med students and residents also need mentors but I don't have enough mentors to go around for that at the moment. We're still here for you!

At the end of my 3rd year of medical school, I learned that I was severely dyslexic. Here is a small piece of my journey in hopes that it can help others. Big shoutout to @medtwitter, @Disabled_Docs, and my entire support system❤️ ⚓ anchor.fm/kerri-corcoran/epi…

Thank you to @DocsWith and @meekslisa for giving me the opportunity to share my perspective on being a black male with a fluency disorder in medicine. I strive to be who I needed when I was younger so I hope my perspective can help others as they pursue their goals 🙌🏾🙏🏾

In the second episode of our #BIPOC series we talk with @dr_jay125 about representation in medicine, as a black man and a person with a disability. 👉bit.ly/DocsWithPodcast #RepresentationMatters #DocsWithDisabilities #MedEd #MedTwitter

I applied for disability insurance as an intern. All of them turned me down because I am disabled, ignoring that I was in an ACGME residency. They refused, even when I requested terms that it would only apply to any new disability. @DocsWith @Disabled_Docs #DocsWithDisabilities
I’ve been advised to lock in disability insurance before I start the process of freezing my eggs since that will make the cost go up. But, sure, go on and tell me how we are “making strides” re supporting women in medicine.

Did you know that 26% of Americans live with a disability but only 1% of NIH grants applicants and 5% of physicians disclose a disability? @dac_med conference presenters sharing data from @BonnieSwenorPhD and @meekslisa! #DAC2021 #MedTwitter #DocsWithDisabilities

Today I found out that on my attending’s first day, my resident pulled him aside & said “with our current team, we can’t take the stairs.” She respected my privacy & made sure rounds were accessible to me. With so much #ableism in #medicine, I want to celebrate moments like this!

A lot of newly diagnosed patients are scared of medication side effects. But side effects risks must be balanced with the potential benefits of meds in preventing disease progression. Here’s a fun example of my medication-induced remission in 2009! #rheumatoidarthritis #rheum

I am so excited to think of a future with more #DocsWithDisabilities. I really would love to have a disabled doctor who treated not just from experience from medical school, but their lived experience. I think the incidence of medical trauma would decrease with more disabled docs
